After 3 years in the game, I bought a fleet carrier. Wanted to use it as a base for exploration, only I can't figure out how to plot a course past those areas on the galaxy map where the stars are scarce, like on the way to Colonia. What am I missing?

Plot a course? FCs only do single jumps. I'm not aware of a way to plot numerous jumps for an FC.

I wasn't clear. I apologize. On several attempts to reach Colonia in ships with 50 - 60 ly jump range, I always come up against an area where my jump range won't cross a local abyss, or area where there are no stars. With the fleet carrier's 500ly range, I assumed that wouldn't be a problem. But I still only see an area of available stars that's far less than 500ly when I try to set a jump with my fleet carrier.

Glad you're up and running. The star density on the way to colonia, fr9m the bubble, should easily allow a 50ly ship to jump there...in fact I think you can get there easily with a 20ly range ship.
