Fleet Carrier query for the un-educated (me)

Hello there. I've built a cheerful little refinery system which I got around to completing the other day and despite its simplicity of function, 4 fleet carriers have already shown up (see image). As a non-owner of a carrier does the appearance of these mini-stations have any influence on the system they are parked in just by being there? I appreciate the owners can use as a mobile base but are they basically there to be used to just hoover up commodities for the most part? Curious about their purpose. My ego was hoping that they have come to hire my chefing skills but I think not on this occasion!

As a proud member of the Fleet Carrier Non-Owners Club, I don't really know what motivates FC owners to go to a particular system in or close to the bubble, but if I had to guess, your system is close to some popular system which "fleet carrier slots" are full. That might be disappointing, but I think that's the most likely explanation.

To my knowledge the presence of a carrier has no influence on the BGS whatsoever. The trading done from that carrier might though.

I am guessing for many CMDRs it's similar to my use: My carrier is my mobile home. I live on my carrier and take it with me wherever I go - within reason. I don't jump my carrier to save on a single ship jump, but I will jump my carrier if I change the area of activity. I usually park it close to wherever I fancy to do any shenanigans for the forseeable future.

If your system produces colonisation commodities in a good number, chances are they are there to fill up on the good stuff. Which shouldn't do any harm, nor good, to the system politics, but, if you are fortunate, they may do a mission or 2 for the controlling faction as a thankyou!

Thanks all for replies. Although a little refinery system last time I was there it had 1300+ insulated mats, all the cmm stuff and whatnot so pretty handy in one spot. going to leave as is and resist my inner George Lucus and not start tinkering with it so not to mess it up!
