fleet carrier - what to do before buying one?

finally saved up like 8 billions and im ready to buy fleet carrier. what is less popular system to buy it? i want fleet carrier to store my ships and let my teammates do same. i plan to install only rearm/repair/refuel services and shipyard and outfitting services. notthing else. the role of carrier will be bertrandite indite silver gold storage. i will be buying these goods. so i think will need jump to GCRV 1568 ? i wonder if anyone mining those. i know can buy on station but its pretty damn time consuming, want someone else do the dirty work with mining.

will i lose dromi permit if i buy the fleet carrier and outfit it? not sure if purchasing this big toy will result in trade rank increase?
can i buy the services off carrier manage screen or i have to fly to admin system?
all my carrier experience was few taxis to colonia and back, and few unwanted taxis becus entering wrong carrier xD
died once to someones carrier when did test carpet bombing. funniest experience ever xD
ohh can we shot our own carrier without getting sent to rebuy screen?
or whole carrier ownership is just prank and we are actually renting carrier? what is lore behind this?

Good questions - I'm on a long-range exploration mission right now, so I can generate enough money for a carrier myself.

yes but best is on foot exploration. its possible to do 1 billion per day with that. and carrier is best tool for exploration you can park it in deep space and go outside to explore systems then trip back to not freeze in that damn cold space.

well i cant watch any youtube video or any video guides because my bandwidth has reached rate limit and all i got is 64kb/s speed and many websites wont load. game barely works, dozens of disconnects happens but i keep going.. need quick guide where to fly for the damn thing and where can outfit it.

that was fun to read

you'll be fine

call it a rental
you buy it you own it but due to forced upkeep you have to pay or lose services and eventually the carrier, its a rental

but other than the 'let others do the dirty work' your plan is sound.
and that will work anyway.

you will never lose any permit, unless it becomes a part of something to come.

the carrier purchase affects nothing rank wise
all rank is dependent on your cmdr actions, not what he owns, as in assets, which a carrier is.
trade means you in a ship buying and selling or missions or both.
purchase requests on your carrier and filled by others or you affect nothing for your cmdr.

using it still involves you, if all trade you do from this point on is freight being moved by other cmdrs that you pay, they get rank/rep for that
you only get rank/rep for the completed missions.
if you want anyone to remove it for you, you would be sharing the missions. all good but again, if they haul and you don't, they gain rep/rank, not you.

yes, you have to take the carrier to a carrier admin system to add a service
you can filter for admin system in the galaxy map

I think I mostly use marrallang

google and pretty sure both inara and eddb can show where to buy and admin
too easily
You can purchase a fleet carrier at these locations:
•Ehlanda, Clark Port.
•Agartha, Enoch Port.
•Panoi, Garen Hub.
•CD-47 990, Jackson Ring.
•Lan Tzak, Jacobi Platform.
•Colonia, Jaques Station.
•Namnetes, Jolliet Enterprise.
•Kruger 6, Kepler Gateway.

but in-game filters do work

thanks all. gonna finish last silver runs and going to grab the carrier. what else should know? umm was thinking about registering it on FC owners club and make enchanced colonia taxi and back . enchanced because extra time for commanders to honk the system and scan planets.little different route to visit few more systems. or maybe become fuel rat and use carrier for rescues.

one little thing. how to attract people to my carrier so they sell me mined stuff, looking for gold silver indite bertrandite. i would park it in mining system, fill it up and then park it in home system where i run missions and use t9 to fill the mission demands. and i dont know if anyone is mining these things.

Thanks for the heads up - I'm too far from the bubble for on-foot exploration, since I've no on-foot exploration gear. So I'll wheel toward Colonia the long way and pick up the gear once I arrive there.

Immediately after buying a carrier, put a good amount on its budget, about 500-1000 million, so as not to worry about overhead costs for the coming year. Remember that you will have to pay the team ~10 million or more (roughly) every week, regardless of whether you are online, so if for some reason you will not be for a long time, then the ownership of the carrier may be canceled for non-payment.
I also recommend connecting Universal Cartographics to always be able to quickly submit data without risk.
As for attracting sellers, it depends on the prices and advertising of your services: it should be profitable for miners to sell to you, and they should know about you.

Don't forget fuelling your Carrier, it's not free!
Bubble prices for Tritium seem to be around 50-60K C/ton.....unless you're lucky enough to 'aquire' other cmdrs to donate to your Carrier or find a 'now rare' low price seller.
Though Mining Tritium while out Exploring is feasible, though time consuming.
To fully load my Carrier to max, for Exploration, usually takes close to 750k Credits. I usually offset this cost while Exploring by Mining Metallic Rings for Platinum, Osmium & any other Core stuff that I stumble across by scanning Asteroids, like Low Temp Diamonds, Alexanderite, etc.

Have fun cmdr, I take my Carrier (and Fleet) wherever I go

Any Fleet Carrier with Pioneer Supplies installed can provide at least the basic Grade 0 Artemis suite. I don't know if DSSA carriers offer this service, though

You made 8bill without losing the starter area permit? Krait Scott! (Does Odyssey still issue the PF permit?)
And no, buying a carrier shouldn't increase your trade rank. You won't be able to park it in Dromi, though.

Close your account... With exploration dead in the water they are much less useful...

So if I had a carrier and don't log in for a year or more I will loose it no matter how much money I put in its account? Is that what you are saying? If that is the case then thank God I can't afford to buy one even after almost a decade long cmdr carrier - started playing in 2014 before v1.00 and barely passed on mil credits in 2023..
Depends how fast your ship is at getting out of weapons range.

Yeah, shoot your own carrier and it will shoot back.
Ah so that is the answer to this crucial question of what happens if you shoot your own carrier. No need to buy one to find out thanks for solving this mystery for me..
PS: But one additional question remains: Will you be able to dock to your own carrier after you shoot it? Will you get bounty? Can you get notoriety rank? Many more questions nedd answering,, so maybe worth effird to buy one - I will find out in a few thousand years oh wait I will be dead by then..

You put whatever you feel like into the FC budget, if you have none in there for the weekly upkeep (10Mln-30Mln depending on what services you have) ,it will be decommissioned and the weekly upkeep builds up debt until the process is completed (about a week IIRC) you get the money back you initially paid (less 150Mln admin charge).

I got one some time after the Tritium CG where I made 8Bln in one week! (some made 20Bln or more).
I have now put 2 years upkeep (2.6Bln) on mine so I don't have to think about upkeep at all.
If you can afford the FC and services, but don't have more to put in FC budget for upkeep, you will likely get fed up having to spend a couple hours game time each week working to earn the upkeep.

I think they are a great addition to game - I am currently 1 jump away from Thargoid CZ's in HIP 11111 and Yemaki and can move my whole fleet closer to next targets after these have completed.

Not sure about bounties as I'm almost exclusively parked in anarchy systems, but wouldn't have thought so. Definitely no notoriety as that's only an issue if you murder someone.

I haven't tested to see if you can still dock, but given the speed I've seen one burn though the hull of someone's CZ build Corvette I'd imagine trying would end in a rebuy anyway. Logically I'd have thought you couldn't for the same reason you can't dock at any hostile station.
