Fleet carriers, should they be cheaper?

The cost to purchase and maintain a FC is just fine, they are not meant for everyone, some of us can put in the time to make it work, others can't or refuse to.
this is a common problem in the world nowadays, where those that never bothered to put in the extra work for anything THINK that they should have the things that
I was on my way to having 2 billion in the bank when I paused and starting playing a different game. Aside from the fact you can park all your ships on the FC what is the benefit? I do a little mining and a lot of combat. Not sure how that would change with a FC.

Mining: Park the carrier next to a nice pristine ring, store the goods, find the best selling price, get there in one jump. Or if you are not happy with the current prices, hold the storage until that changes. Mining is one of the activities that profit from a carrier a lot.
Combat: Park the carrier right next to the CZ, no matter how deep inside the system, refuel, repair, restock with minimal downtime.

5 billion is a very daunting task to be sure. My problem is that every time I get to a billion, I buy and outfit another ship to see what it's like.

I'll get there eventually though. I already know exactly where I'm going and what I'm doing once I get it.

Makes sense.
