Patch Notes Fleet Carriers Update - Patch 4 Patch Notes

Yes for each patch. :)

Don't y'all get it by now? This is why the patch was delayed. They realised a few stations in colonia had 4,000t of tritium for sale at 4k/t - the bubble was bursting with tritium and a previous bug had been fixed! Fdev weren't having none of that!@

Maybe, but I reckon it's when they get to Patch 666 that things start to get interesting....

I wish there had been no patches at all, FCs were fantastic for the first couple weeks, best fun I had in the game for a very long time when the biggest inconvenience about FCs was not to be able to change the paintjob. Best update since 2.0 I said several times. Now 4 patches later, with the return of FD's signature mandatory inconveniences, I have completely lost my boner.

LTD3 spot. 1 hour of lasering.

43 LTDs
7 tritium

I'm wondering if that is an intentional rate. If so, then I'm guessing laser mining in such a spot for LTD's is down to about 20% of what it was.

ETA. On the few sparkly yellow 'roids I found, there was norhing of value nor did they even contain a core. I wasn't exactly looking hard though.

Seriusly Fdev, you taked two weeks to deliver this patch... Here we goo, Odyssey will be delayed again for patching the fleet carriers dozens times, I see it coming, mark my word. Hope I am wrong, but my five years in game experience tell me so. :cautious:

In my opinion, I doubt it.

Christmas was an internal resource contention for Frontier - either
1) Launch Planet Coaster on Console - grab new market / show off game on the high proifle launch consoles
or
2) Provide an update for a game that is already generating money

The slippage to 2021 may have been called out for 'more coding time' but it was probably more to do with allowing the business / marketing for focus on Planet Coaster.

When it comes to the Q1 2021 launch of Odyssey. This is a different issue as it is to be launched before 1st Apr in order to hit the stock market expectations. In this case, it is more likely that features will be cut (VR???) to meet the date than the drop to move to the right. If Frontier have coding issues, between now and the Odyssey launch, expect the scale and scope of Odssey to take a hit rather than launch date.

According to patch notes their target was to make overlaps yields NOT exceeding significantly results in the center of hotspot.

So, if someone still have doubts if some yield hourly rate it's intentional or broken - if you are able to mine (even a bit) more LTD (or any resource) in double/triple overlap
then in center of hotspot BEFORE/AFTER patch - it means FD achieved it's goal and no further corrections will be made.

And LTD is very rare commodity. I was and is hard to find in single hotspot.
Your result seems to fit in current hotspots logic.

End of story.

Funny fact: FD may not consider Tritiium/&FC subject "broken", because it does not fit SOME of our ideas how we can use them.
That would not surprise me at all. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about being able to "easily" move fleet carriers around the galaxy. I still kinda wish the galaxy felt properly big, where it takes 70 years to return home from the Delta Quadrant rather than 70 hours (and even less these days).

Like I say, it's a mixed feeling, because I did enjoy hopping a ride to and from Colonia on someone else's fleet carrier. I probably would never have bothered otherwise...

While I don't consider current state of FC/Tri rendering them "useless",

I have to agree that implementing changes effectively reducing range of "convenient" FC usage some time AFTER they were introduced (and customized by buyable ARX)
and without prior "warning" , can be seen by some of players as:

a) fraudulent trick
or
b) mindless ignorance

I go with B. Frontier never seems to think things properly through. Half the services that fleet carriers provide (commodity market, shipyard, etc) are utterly useless except in fringe scenarios. I remember the dev video where one of FDev says, "We can't wait to see what you do with these!" I'm pretty sure that was from a "We really don't have a clue what the community will do with these..." point of view rather than a "We know exactly what you'll do with these, and we can't wait for you to discover what we had in mind!"

"In mind" is not something I see when it comes to updates like this :p
