Fleet Carriers

As usual FC did a great job on the visuals for Fleet Carriers but, beyond that I don't see an improvement to gameplay. In fact, after purchasing and outfitting one I was ready to make that first jump. Now, I do get the idea for longer FSD charging but, an hour? Once I set the nav point I realized gameplay was now on hold for the next 59 minutes. Having to wait an hour to make a jump is NOT enjoyable gameplay. In fact, after making my first jump I was not enthused enough to make another one.

As someone who enjoys mining and exploring I cannot see how fleet carriers can be sustained in those services. Perhaps my expectations were not realistic and they weren't meant for those game areas. The idea of having a mobile base from which to mine and explore, with multilple ships and loadouts available, seemed ideal. I was hoping that such a carrier would allow longer mining durations due to increased refined material storage. That would make mining further out from the bubble make sense. It would also allow the flexibilty to change ships and head out for system discovery and mapping (if I got bored mining) without having to travel 90 jumps each way just to change my shp and gameplay. Maybe FD will come up with a smaller carrier that would fit these needs better.

I do look forward to see what all you CMDR's will come up with in utilizing fleet carriers.
