Fleet Carries Bug Me

Elite is often criticized as a mile wide and an inch deep, and I don’t understand the impulse to keep trying to build a house contained in the inch, rather than the mile.

I know when I’ve stumbled into a system that has something of human interest in it, because there are at least 10 unnecessary triangles on the Nav Pane. Does everyone have one of these? I’ve read about them but I still don’t understand the utility - I mean I understand how I would use it, as a kind of far out expeditionary bases… so I guess I’m extra confused by the giant stack of triangles permanently parked at the engineers.

Carriers carry the fleets, if you want your fleets engineered you're going to take them to the engineers.
Applying experimental effects to a dozen or so ships is likely to take some time.

A carrier is your mobile home, you "carry" everything with you, and it's a big fat cash making machine, when the panther clipper is introduced you can move massive amount of materials around.

Nav Filters.

Problem solved.

Why wouldn't everyone have one? You could finance one in a week during the Thargoid war. They're incredibly useful for basically every aspect of the game. They can increase efficiency in most of the roles in the game, if not every role, if they're used correctly. I love being able to dock up and jump my whole toy box over to the next area so I do my stuff there instead of waiting for everything to come piecemeal.

....and is the single coolest item in a video game I have ever had.

Speaking as somebody who spent 30 years working on ships and travelling around the world on cargo planes etc, I gotta say that the people who created all the pre-jump stuff (sound, visuals and voice-acting) really nailed it.

The sounds of big machines spinning up, the tannoy announcements, the clangs and thumps as the flight-deck is locked down and then the sound and visuals of travelling through hyperspace is just... epic!

If you want to know what it's like when several thousand tonnes of machinery defies the laws of physics to rip a gaping hole in the universe, go sit on the bridge of an FC when it's making a jump.

Only thing that bugs me is that if you filter out the carriers you also filter out your own carrier, which means you cant then target it to use auto cruise to it without turning the carrier filter back on, you should always be able to see your own carrier on the left system panel.

Can you bookmark it and thus plot from galmap?
Yes, you can bookmark it. And you should. The bookmark moves with the carrier, thus you always know where it is. Also it highlights your carrier in the contacts, making it easier to find among all the other carriers.

The Fleet Carrier's Prayer

This is my Carrier. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

My Carrier is my lifeline.
It is my shield against the void, my hammer in the stars.
I will master her systems as I master my ship.
I will learn her limitations, know her moods, and tend her hull.

My Carrier and I are defenders of the black,
Guardians of my fleet, keepers of my cargo,
A haven for weary hulls, a forge for warbirds.
We move not in haste, but with purpose—measured, massive, inevitable.

Without me, my Carrier is just steel and silence.
Without my Carrier, I am a drifter among stars.
Together, we are more—
A command, a cause, a sanctuary with jump drives.

I will maintain her as she maintains me.
Fuelled, stocked, armed, and ready—
With tritium in her heart and purpose in her course.

Before the stars and under the gaze of the Pilots' Federation,
I swear this creed.
My Carrier and I are the vanguard.
We are the distant thunder.
We are coming.

I bookmarked my carrier on the day i bought it many moons ago.
while it does help you find it in the navigation panel you still need to have the carrier filter on to use use super cruise assist (SCA).
I am old, and lazy, and use SCA all the time, also though i have many ships with SCO drives i do not use the boost very offen.
I never feel the need to rush anywhere, i play to relax.
If anyone knows of a way to super cruise to your own carrier without the carrier filter on i would love to hear it.
Thanks

I've wanted a hotkey for SCA for a long time.
