Fleet Carries Bug Me

Nav Filters.

Problem solved.
Just wish your own carrier would always show without having to show every other carrier in the system

But I use mine as mobile base for moving whole fleet between systems interested in and a mobile storage unit
swap between mining/cargo/combat ships without having to pay and wait for transfers or flying back and forth to move them

Fair comment.
Can't see why anybody would be that determined to filter FCs that they wouldn't want to see their own.
FDev should probably have just excluded a player's own FC from the filter.
Or, alternatively, have another filter for "Always show my FC".

I have my FC as a favourited bookmark so, instead of trying to find it on the nav-HUD, I find it's quicker to just open a map, favourites, and long-click.

Most of the time that's hassle-free, except if you're jumping around a bunch of systems, BHing for example, and you decide to make a pitstop on your FC to re-arm but you're not sure if you're in the correct system.

The amount of times I've done something in one system, jumped to the next one, thinking my FC was there, set it as my destination and then realised I've got to jump back to the system I've just come from cos it was actually there....

Yeah only problem on that is reason trying to select carrier is to enable the 'easy mode' by using 'supercruise assist' to get to the carrier.

So a few ideas.

1) SCA button. Would be great for many things.
2) Any object you are targeting automatically shows up in the navigation panel. This means you could pick your destination from solar/galactic map, or engineer, or mission list, or whatever, and the thing is there.
3) A new filter button for bookmarks, works for when you're doing cargo or mining loops or headed to an engineer or trying to find a single carrier in the spam or going to a regularly visited spot on a planet (oh, this also assume being able to waypoint landing spots in the middle of nowhere, which would also be good).

Carriers carry the fleets, if you want your fleets engineered you're going to take them to the engineers.
Applying experimental effects to a dozen or so ships is likely to take some time.
Why would. Anyone. Ever. Engineer a dozen ships at once?

What part of that is fun or necessary?
I have done everything there is to do in this game, I have never needed more than 2 ships at once. You can only ever fly one ship... Like... Again, what??

You don't get anything for having more ships, it doesn't add anything to the game...It really sounds like that just something someone is doing because they're on mental autopilot and 'want moar'

When you have two dozen ships but you only have the mats to engineer a dozen. :ROFLMAO:

To answer your question: sometimes a new module gets released like the FSD, and cmdrs like to upgrade a bunch of their ships. For established players the mats aren't an issue, and the fleet carrier makes it easy.

You might be newer to the game. The thargoid war is an example of having a set of ships that are task specific. And generally don't have good jump range. So getting the set of ships across the bubble to location is significantly easier with the carrier.

Also consider many activities are now significantly assisted with the ability to store items. So they don't get lost if your ship gets blown up. There is no other way to store stuff. Again.... as an example the thargoid war activities had lots of items that needed to be collected and stored so ship modules could be purchased or upgraded. Collecting some of these items had a high risk of ship destruction, so storing the items as you collect them was good idea.

Do you sell your old ships? Most people don’t, and keep the old ones. Just off the top of my head, some stuff in circulation in my fleet recently:
  • Vette for PVE
  • Conda for module moving
  • Cutter for bulk trading
  • Type 8 for rares and core mining
  • Cobra 5 for settlements and powerplay salvaging
  • Python 2 for keeping the station at the Apura CG clear of interlopers
  • Mandalay for exploration
Just right there is enough ships to justify a carrier imo and this doesn’t count my locker ships with guns stored on them.

ROFL Thargoid war and PP2 rained mats. Engineering overhaul made completing builds achievable. Things that had been left on the backburner for years were/are possible. with ample mats and multiple ships wanting mods from the same engineer doing the lot in one go is a no-brainer. The scope of what is possible is something to behold.

I have done everything there is to do in this game,
Congratulations!

Excellent

Well, not for you, by the sound of it
It really sounds like that just something someone is doing because they're on mental autopilot and 'want moar'
Or, just maybe they play differently to you?
