For FDEV - Frontier account question

If you pre-order the game you can download a couple of days in advance, although it will stay locked until release day. Shame they couldn't open up the tutorials only during this time,,,, just an idea.

Nice, that would be cool, it woul be useful for setting up my controls and brushing up on my piloting skills

Will ED handle this for us (simple click of option box), or does it just send us to Frontier's website?

Also, do the tutorials need a Frontier account? IF the servers are "clogged" on launch day (it happens to the biggest game companies), I would be happy playing the tutorials until conditions improve.

Billl, it cracks me up that you're telling an official Frontier spokesman that he's "correct", LOL. Thank for that vote of confidence ;)

I got bored waiting for aliens last night so logged into elite using my youngest kids profile (he only watches elite)

You can't get to the main menu until you've created or linked an account :( if you cancel the process it takes you back to the elite splash screen and then back to account creation if you try again.

It's done within ed (not the browser) and by default your current email address is already entered so all you have to do is add a password and tick a few boxes :)

Bill, to keep you out of trouble in the future, I'm a "he", I'm married to a "she", I wear pants (sometimes shorts), and I've never paid much attention to how I put them on. Back during my military service, I'm pretty sure I put my pants on both legs instantly - at least when Battle Stations was the alarm waking me up.

ps - Everyone wears pants in ED. You know, the flight suit? (In case I'm being too subtle, that's my vain attempt to bring us back on topic.)

as unofficial minister for off topic shenanigans and tomfoolery, i would like to point out just this once i agree with duck we should keep this completely on topic. *whispers* did i do alright Mr Duck, Sir

I'm going to roll the dice and wait until June 27th to create my account through ED. If the server is slow for account creation, it will likely also be slow for account authentication (all you pre-regs), so I might as well let ED do the hard work for me.

BTW, this seems to imply the tutorials are not available if my Internet goes down. Good thing I still have my copy of NMS... This "you must be connected to the Internet to do anything" is very annoying. I still love you FDev, but perhaps just a little bit less (no bold, no hearts today).

Unless it's just an xbox thing it looks that way I'm afraid :( I'm sure in the early days you could do this but I remember a problem a few updates ago where xbox players were able to log in before fdev had fully updated the server which led to them loading into a sidewinder at the start which wiped over their save!

They sorted it for the cmdrs affected but ever since then I think it was changed as you can't get to the menu.

Pure guesswork tho ;)

cheer up ducky, it ain't over til its over. come on FDev show the the duck some love, you know he gets grumpy if you don't [heart]

One way they could solve this is by making a separate DEMO for ED that's just the tutorials. This would not require any Internet connection, and history shows it would actually increase their sales. Sony allows this - I see it all the time with other games.

AND, Frontier does this already on the PC!
