I’d be surprised if this hasn’t been suggested before, but I’m not gonna dig through pages of suggestions to find out.
Title says it all, really: large ships, such as the Anaconda, and especially the Type-9 Heavy, could benefit greatly from being able to deploy ship-launched fighters equipped with mining tools.
For the old mining, this isn’t so important. You point a laser at a rock and hold the fire key. But the new mining methods almost always involve moving your ship around an asteroid to deploy blasters, missiles, and charges at key points in order to extract resources.
I just got an Anaconda, and I plan on mining with it, but I do not relish the thought of that huge hull trying to maneuver around inside a planetary ring.
I dunno, maybe it’ll be better than I think; I haven’t actually started mining in it yet. But somehow I get the feeling that it will be frustrating.
