Well I have never done NMS so I will trust your word here.
For the sake of their sanity Fdev please. Throw Explorers a bone with this update.

Well I have never done NMS so I will trust your word here.
I have only really watched it on YouTube. I do think ED will eventually be better than NMS though (not a high bar really) but the keyword is eventually...
True, NMS has some things to find and discover. But if you think about it deeply, it ends up being far worse than ED.
- You don't scan/find jack with your ship. Ships have no sensors, scanners, nothing. So its even worse than ED in that regard. Actually your ship has barely any actual flying involved, its a glorified hovercraft.
- Like in ED, all your discovering is done using eyeballs.
- In ED, the only scanning/sensor mechanic for actually finding anything on planets, is those peek-a-boo blue POIs, followed by a glorified geiger counter on a dune buggy. Horrid, I know. But in NMS, you have to discover stuff with your eyeballs anyway - on foot!
- Like in ED, your discoveries in NMS result in nothing.
- NMS really does not feel like space exploration, because nothing in it feels like space or planets, it feels like disneyland.
So even with ED's exploration in its extremely barebones state, it is still somehow better than NMS. Its almost empty, mechanics for discovery are non-existant. But at least its atmospheric.

I did say that I think ED will eventually be better than NMS in every regard. But yeah. Eventually...tick tock...
Also I don't think that I would mind a bit of Disneyland sprinkled in to this barren godless wasteland we call a galaxy.
