FOR VR USERS Please decrease supercruise acceleration and deceleration time.

I have been getting back into ED because of how good VR is for this game. I have over 2000 hours of non-VR gaming in ED.

While supercruise QOL has improved with supercruise assists, VR gaming has made long interplanetary travel longer than 5 minutes too much to bear compared to just using a monitor. Anyone using VR headsets will know how it can get uncomfortable for long stints and when doing a long supercruise travel, this can be a larger negative gaming session.

Could it be made that supercruise acceleration and deceleration time be decreased for VR users to mitigate the discomfort of wearing a headset.

It's not as bad with dual monitors as the player can browse the internet while cruising, but it is different experience for VR users.

I would like to see some QOL improvements for VR users as this game is amazing in VR and going back to flat screen is now a horrible thought. I actually thought ED graphics were looking old and outdated until I experienced it in VR using the Oculus Quest. The interiors look amazing.

The immersion is next level in VR and if the sounds are set right where ship sounds are muffled or a lot softer than the COVAS then it even sounds like you are inside the ship adding to the immersion.

As a non user, can you explain why it's worse in vr than normal flat screen please, and why it is unpleasant to sc for more than a few minutes?

I'm genuinely curious, I'm not baiting you or anything like that.

As a VR user here, I have no clue what this is about. Whilst I'm sorry to hear this user has an uncomfortable headset so doesn't want to spend so long in supercruise, I've never heard of it being a problem, and certainly not one warranting a change of that magnitude.

Pretty sure FDev aren't in the habit of making game-changing modifications for individual players.

I just aim at the destination, set the VR headset down in a spot where I can see what's going on on my monitor, and kick back until I'm closing in. It's not that big of a deal, not on the level of trying to drink beer out of a can while wearing a headset.

EDIT: what the OP really means is that long SC trips are really boring in VR because you can't watch TV, play on your phone, etc. while wearing the headset, you're stuck just staring at the instruments and controls with nothing to do. Like a real pilot.

Well this make sense, but OP can still use third party apps to watch videos or even movies while in VR. OVRdrop is a nice one.

Oculus home has a feature that lets you use windows of other apps inside of VR, so you can browse the web etc. while in VR. It doesn't work very well though, it tends to not come back correctly when you take the headset off and put it back on. Still, it works OK other than that.

I’m interested in this for eddb but I don’t want it always on. Can you have a screen that pops up on command, say with VoiceAttack, over the helm menu say, so I can see my next destination and commodity to buy on a trade trip?

Unfortunately no. You have to set up the windows using the (ugh!) touch controllers. You have to select the window/monitor, position it, pin it to that position, etc. No way to do it with the keyboard, VoiceAttack, or any macro utility, as far as I can tell.

"Like a real pilot?" This is beyond ridiculous. Modern aircraft have autopilot so they can read a book or have a conversation with the flight crew. Future space pilots will have the time to read many books, watch movies, eat a meal, work on the ship, all because the distances are long - lifetime long.

I like your optimism about people still reading books in 3306.

So, spending a couple of minutes in supercruise is somehow discomforting but spending much longer doing combat in a CZ, bounty hunting, looking at mission boards, mining, or whatever, isn't an issue?

Regardless, its a silly suggestion to change it for just a small number of users, not to mention how it would mean that VR users alone would get faster travel.

There have been suggestions to increase supercruise speed for everyone or having different supercruise speeds depending on the ship, which have their own proponents and detractors, but at least are reasonable suggestions.
