CHAPTER ONE: Forced to the Adventure
As a spatial commander, I’ve always laid upon the security of the bubble, of the known and controlled space. I’ve never been interested in going to the center, or the border of the galaxy… Despite enjoying some occasional readings about the most renowned explorers of our time (like commander Persera and her Void Beyond project which, I must admit, I did enjoy very much), I’m quite a pretty practical man, and honestly, there’s nothing for me out there, that far away.
I never take unnecessary risks unless it is completely necessary, and try to always evaluate the pros and cons prior to attempting anything. After all, I have a crew to look after, and many, many, responsibilities…
As an Imperialist, I made all my dreams come true when, years ago, I gained sufficient reputation and wealth (thanks to various successful businesses) to get my own, personal, private, Gutamaya Cutter. Since that very moment, I’ve expended all my time, effort and resources to make her one hell of a ship, with the best hardware available and all the possible improvements. Today, more than a billion credits latter, I’m still on it…
Lately, I’ve been very busy doing business with some of the most complex, egocentric yet talented people in the whole galaxy. Let’s just say they are the best in their jobs, and they’re specially gifted when it comes to improve ships hardware beyond limits.
I won’t lie, it’s not been easy to work with this people (I can’t give names, so don’t ask, they do not like to be in the spotlight). Apart from their difficult personalities (some worse than others), they just don’t like to be paid in credits, like the rest of us mortals (that would have been so much easier…), and usually ask for some of the rarest, most difficult to find materials and/or data in exchange of their services…
That is why, lately, I’ve been forced to do things I would have never attempted by my own, like surface scanning planets and lost rocks with my SRV to search and gather resources… Or infiltrating planetary outposts to steal key data from their systems, or going to some metal rich asteroid ring with some mining lasers and start shooting every rock to gather an insane amount of metals…
So, it’s been a bit crazy lately, as you can see, but now the thing is getting even worst.
One of this clever guys has asked me to go outside the bubble, and get in a ride that will bring me 5.000 LY outside the bubble, and then turn back. I’d tell him to fu** off, but apparently, he’s the only one able to improve my clumsy Cutter to be agile like a fish, and I desperately need that mod…
So, here I am, forced to make a journey that I would have never attempted by my own, that I did not chose, with a mixture of emotions, but with the determination of the unstoppable man I am.
I will go there, 5.000 LY away, outside the bubble I so much love, and I will turn back, (and make some cash in the meantime). My combat fitted Cutter is not well suited for the task…
Once again, it’s time to clear the dust from the canopy of my old, trustworthy Asp X. I’m taking the challenge… I’m doing the thing…
Next chapter… Set up and departure…
