forget the nerfs lets have.....

During beta, interdictions were 5 - 6 per trip in High security systems. It grew very boring very fast. In Anarchy systems with stations I would expect to get interdicted 2 - 3 times per trip.

The only thing that I would change from the current set up is: bring back the police random spot checks.

Well 2 points here. 1st you said equal skill - important point. I agree that in this case Cobra would have a good fight vs python probably a draw or just boost away if things go bad.
2nd point 10 mil vs 120mil ship. I just dont buy this. In your oppinion does the price tag represents quality or improvement? Bit like macbook air having worse specs and costing 2-3 times normal laptop. To to me price represents a status symbol. Ability for grinders to show off in their pimped out ships with little idea how to kit them and fly them. I refuse to gring for status symbols in life as well as in game. I refuse to accept concepts such as money buys succes. Skill and vision do that.
Finally Cobra is a very different ship from viper, python, conda. It has its strenghts and weakneses. With the right skills, setup and strategy it should have every right to destroy a python in pvp.
Nice talking to you Cmdr - good thread.

i can see where your coming from here, but i was being simplistic .... a Python is a serious combat tool so we are agreed on the skill set but id point out that credit grinders are unlikely to have the requisite skills to pilot there "status symbol" effectively......money does buy success but it doesnt buy longevity ^^ so maybe we are in agreement after all....the problem i have is that even poor pilots can take out these big ships with little danger hence the apparent imbalance of the smaller craft

Skill should definitely be the main point, but if two equally skilled people fight, one has a python and one has a viper/cobra, then the python user should be the one with the advantage, not the cobra/viper.

Another idea might be add force to weapons? granted lasers would be tricky with that, but the idea that a large weapon hitting a small ship while the shields might be able to take a hit or two (though considering the power and size of large weapons, should they really?) it would significantly mess with the ships inertia, making them spin, pushing them back, e.t.c.?

thoughts?

No thats an idea with legs on it, excellent idea and as MJC says would add to the immersion factor.

in fact its such a good idea you need to put it in the dev suggestion threads, i would but its not my idea and cant take credit for it

Forget about fusion power, people should just be more polite to each other.

This has about as much to do with each other as the balancing of ships has with the number and quality of interdictions.
