Forget the wimpy snakes, lets get some deadly snake names!

I see more and more of my Aussie bogan kin joining these boards.

Help me out my fellow Aussies and let's push for some of our iconic snakes names to represent any future ships in this potentially great game.

After all we only have 9 of the top 10 most venomous snakes in the world in our great country to kill us. I said most venomous, not most deadly, mainly because we are not silly enough to go around picking them up, unlike what happens in the USA and Africa.

As for the UK, the only snake you guys have to worry about is the good old 'trouser snake'.

Now there are already some varieties of our snakes that make the Elite list, but I think the three most feared snakes in Australia that don't are:

1. The Taipan.
2. Common Brown Snake (these guys are a real f...xers)
3. Tiger Snake

There is a common saying in Australia when playing golf. You don't slice or hook the ball into the rough. It's tigers to the right, brownies to the left!

I would definitely love to see a Taipan class. Not only is it a cool name, but it just sounds like a bounty hunter class ship.

Tiger class would also be nice. I don't care that it sounds like a big cat, who doesn't love Tigers. It also keeps in with the naming of ships nicely. The class of ship lends it self to the military, not some wimpy viper class.

The Brown snake is a tough one. It's a shame, because it is the most aggressive snake you are likely to ever come across. Personally I have come close on three occasions to these little sh..ts striking me and I hate them.

I would still like to see a Brown class ship, it's just a tad boring the name.

Let's hear about any other dangerous animals that would make good names for ships.

"Bite my shiny metal asp."

Don't think that calling my Cobra a 'wimpy snake' is going to save your cargo.

All Miners should be forced to fly 'Brown' class. Ha ha.

:)

I agree, Taipan class should be for bounty hunters. Sleek with a slim attack profile. Ideally with a fanged appearance at the front, like the USS Equinox.

I think you are forgetting the good old Adder, fair enough its bite is only as bad as a Bee sting .. but that s*** hurts and it can kill.. living in Australia .. everything wants to kill you ... I'd rather a Bee sting ... than death by frog .. or box-jellyfish ..or snake .. or Sal****er (Profanity filter overdrive there s.a.l.t.w.a.t.e.r) Crocodile ...or Sharks ...or Spiders ... or Cassowary's, Snails, Octopus' or BBQ ... you get the picture:D

Ahh let the trash talk begin then.

Who said anything about cargo, cargo is for wimps also.

My Taipan will eat your Cobra and spit out the cargo.

Hang on, my trash talk is really embarrassing. I'm going to have to work on it.

I just realised, I don't think there is a Rattler class representing your great nation?

Seriously, you guys have adders?

For 7 years I use to do walks through all those ferns and never realised. Damn POMMY wife was lying to me all those years, or perhaps she wanted me to go into those ferns!

Oh well, them the breaks.

Adders and grass snakes too... but the latter aren't real snakes though.

Yes we do ... LINK ...

Well at least they are not death adders, they are a nasty, nasty, nasty snake and strike like lightning!

Only ever seen one from a distance, a lot near New Castle in Australia if you are ever visiting. I highly recommend it as a place to NOT visit, major sh...t hole!

As much as I would like to visit Australia ..It will never happen .. as I value my life .. and like I said before the wildlife there WANTS to kill you ..

I can't stop...

See, this is the problem with y'all down under- You have it upside down;

The King Cobra, a snake which preys upon other, smaller snakes, typically grows to over 10 feet in length, but can get up to 18 feet. Although not as poisonous as smaller species like the Taipan, it is still has enough juice to kill, while being fast enough to strike first (though not as fast as the Death Adder, another wimpy named one...)

:p

You will have to rename your ship the King Cobra then.

However if we are going to compare apples to apples then the King Brown, which is actually a member of the black snake family actually eats brown snakes!

Never seen one and I don't want to either, but this is a big snake and far more venomous than a King Cobra. I think you are under estimating the ability of the snakes venom also. A Taipan's venom is something like 100 times more potent than a Cobra's which I believe is more potent than a King Cobra's.

Even if the King struck first, it's going to die also and very, very, very, very, very quickly, like in a few minutes quickly!

I was hoping you might not want to get into semantics, but that is a good point. I concede the argument- We need more ship classes with cool snake names.

Australia is the most venomous/dangerous (Wildlife) country/continent on Earth ... Don't mess with that place ...IT WILL EAT YOU !!!!!!!!

All in the spirit of good humour...

Well :) they aren't upside down and I was just going on about generalizations ... never looked upon well.

If'n I look at a globe and find America, then I find Australia, they do appear to be upside down from my perspective. This was the slightly lame pun that I played upon in a 'trash talk' situation, where I don't feel that anyone was really taking any perceived insults to heart. Maybe I'll get a spider in the mail now though...
