Hello Acheron. Sorry, didn't mean to undermine your work. On the contrary, we need to have all the info we have in one single place to be able to make ties easily, and your post is a great start! The problem is where to put it so that it easy accessible. Also, I think that all info should go in there, even that which has been debunked...
...
Okay... I've been thinking about the "core" of the problem. I've come to two conclusions as the what this is:
1. The core of the problem is, of course, the Formidine Rift itself.
and
2. The core refers to our galactic core.
Okay... by now we all know that Formidine is an ablative case of the Latin "Formido" which means fear. Being ablative it mean moving away from something... but moving away from what exactly? Well... moving away from the Core of our galaxy.
What is our galaxy? Well... it's the Milky Way. That name, "Milky Way" comes to us from Latin: "Via Lactea".
"Formidine Via Lactea" literally means "Fear of the Milky Way" in such a way that whomever is afraid of the galaxy is moving away from it.
My conclusion is that whatever (whoever) we find in the rift is out there because they are trying to escape from something. Whatever is out there is out there because it is as far as it can get from whatever is driving this fear. The question is what will we find first: Those who are trying to escape this fear or that which is the cause of this fear in the first place?
Oh... and now that the tinfoil hats are firmly affixed: Drew Wagar/Dark Wheel. DW. Coincidence? I think not!![]()

I commented on the 'core' thingy as it has come up several times lately and my personal thought is that it was meant as a hint to bring people back on track. As we don't really fully understand the problem yet, we can't find a solution! Also, we don't know really what we are searching, thus it's difficult to find it!

That's true, but they are working hard to evolve that aspect of the game and Drew specifically is doing a great job with it! Mysteries like this bring a lot of depth to those involved at least. I'm still trying to find the bottom in this one...

No dedicated private group as far as I know of. I'm always in open anyway so far from the bubble. 12.000ly out to the rim I sure don't expect griefers...
If you want to see an excellent example of how to provide a summary of salient facts in a vast megathread then you should check out the excellent job that Cmdr Rizzal has been doing for the Canonn on the first page (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=227901) of the UA thread. Debunked theories are part of the science & should be noted; you'll need to have good precis skills though.
Putting it on the first page makes it easily accessible, though I'm not sure if you could do that retrospectively on this thread-suggest you ask a moderator.
The mods may be able to edit the first post for us.

Perhaps they're trying to escape/run away from us.
Or at least those that sought to do them harm in the past.
But core can mean a lot of other things. Not specificaly the galactic core.
System core? Core of the Rift?
Core of the galaxy is a black hole, so maybe we are looking for one too?

I mean no disrespect to you or anyone else involved, but Elite's lore is actually pretty poor, especially compared to some other sci-fi games out there. Like EVE, Mass Effect, Halo or StarCraft.
how did that happen?and player interaction can (and has) obliterated entire tranches of storyline written in advance.

A Canonn Book Club Moment
Just a review of possible symbolism behind the Name of Lady Kahina Tijani Loren (AKA Salome)
- Lady and Loren Refer to her position and Family Name ( I do not see any particular significance to the name)
- Kahina – is an arabic term for “prophetess” Also an historic figure from North Africa of a Prophetess/Queen who fought against the Umayyad invasion.
The Kahina
"This lady living in the Aures Mountains was a Kahina. She had these uncanny powers to a remarkable degree, being both clairvoyant and telepathic, and was also a priestess, but more than an ordinary priestess. She was a spiritual leader of the Berbers, and since she combined this spiritual position with the political authority of a queen, it would be more accurate to refer to her as High Priestess. Muslim historians call her the Kahina.
She was Duhya bin Tabta bin Neiqan of the clan Jarawa. The Jarawa were a princely clan of the very large tribe of Zannata, part of which lived in the Maghreb and had saved Uqba by falling upon his enemies. This lady ruled as Queen of the Jarawa in the Aures Mountains and was the High Priestess generally of all Berbers. She also had a fortress of Al Jamm, 40 miles south of Sousa, in which many years before she had been besieged by her enemies but had survived and won. "
The battle of Miskiana
"… On the following day was fought one of the fiercest battles between the Muslims and the Berbers … The High Priestess showed no mercy. She took blood revenge for all the Berber blood shed by the Muslims in previous battles. Towards evening Hassaan broke contact and retreated, leaving a large number of Muslim dead on the battlefield. The part of the Valley of Miskiana where this battle was fought became known, for some odd reason, as Wadi-ul-Azara (Valley of Virgins)…. It was the only defeat suffered by the Muslims at the hands of the Berbers in a large scale battle, and it was a very bloody one."
Death
After conducting a scorched earth policy to keep the Arabs out … she looses support at home and the Umayyads invade again and defeat her .. she dies during the battle and “The place where she fell came to be known as 'The Well of the Kahina'.”

- Tijani – Is probably a reference to “Tijaniyyah” - The Tijani Path (Sometimes referred to as the Path of the Prophet). A Sufi Order from North Africa. Or more specifically the founder of that order - Shaykh Ahmad Tijani.
- Salome – A beautiful girl who dances “the seven veils” and gets (deliberately asks for) the head of a prophet (John the Baptist) in return.
Ya im not getting any grand insight into where she might be going from this…. Pass the biscuits
Or again, Drew could just have chosen the names because he liked them. He could have made them up off the top of his head.
Or, they could have been deeply researched. Just adding a point of caution that people could be going off in all sorts of false directions.
