Thing is, a percent of a percent of the playerbase post on the forums, and by nature most posts (General Discussion) are gonna be negative in one way or another, assumed negative or misunderstood to be negative. It's the internet, a message written is often not a message understood. And also, a larger part of the threads are from the same handfull of players (many of wich don't even play the game anylonger (so they say)

Addionally you have all the missed visual cues from not seeing facial expressions and body language. Something that was written as a throwaway comment and would be seen as such in a face to face conversation could be interpreted as something much bigger. I also wonder how many arguments escalate from a misunderstood translation.

I guess it depends on what you're posting.

When people post here to discuss ED I doubt it's anything like as "scary" as posting to be critical of the forum, itself.
