FORUM METAGAMING IN PROGRESS

Its worse...its like that crisis only on steroids this time...real disaster stuff theres rage quitting threads, theres a huge population of non subscription playing console players on the warpath if the rumours are to be believed...

If this is FD idea of a practical joke, then ye...that gets a giggle...didnt see that one coming at all haha ^

Wait for the instancing issues when it goes through, Im saving my salted caramel & chocolate for that.

Its ok I can squeese in a skimmer mission with a couple wing missions later...no way am I done with the popcorn yet, this is the must fun the forums have been in months, they cant take that away from me...it would be a crime against nature...my nature...I quit...I hate this game yer all a bunch o noobs ^

The forums have been a bit dull. Sandro chucks in a grenade...
I've got the tequila, I've got the lemons... [yesnod]

The paranoia of the OP is just... sad, really.

Honestly, I wish it WERE paranoia.

But you see it a lot. Heck, it's why the poll option vanished from these very forums - because the discussion or poll gets swarmed and fails to produce representative results. As for calling it metagaming, it is. Perhaps it's a particularly hot topic here because so many space gamers DID get burned by it on the EVE forums. And this is what it looked like then, too. I know, I was there.

If FD do as they did with ship transfer, I'll shut my yap and cope with whatever outcome, because that at least has a chance of being truly representative. What is happening on the feedback forum isn't.

Word.
There is no meta gaming here at all. This forum is avoided by a lot of PP or PvP players because of the incessant and hysterical mantra of a sense of equality over game modes (which is actually lacking, IMO).
People need to realize that powerplay is just as much about cooperation as it is about competition, maybe even more so.
Get on the discord channels of a power of your liking and find out for yourselves.
If you're not interested, then PP isn't an issue for your playstyle and 'open only' shouldn't be a problem in relation to PP activities.

Where do I submit a request to be considered to possibly be able to voice an opinion on Power Play?

Do I have to PM the OP for approval before posting?

Don't be stupid. A straw man is a pretty poor argument, as somebody with your long history of participating in constructive discussion on here should understand.

What else would you call it when dozens of folks with no posting history crawl out of the woodwork and start weighing in on a fundamental change to the nature of the game? I'd call it metagaming even if I agreed with their premise - indeed, have done in the past. Which you should also remember as I'm pretty sure you were also a participant in some of those previous discussions.

What portion of the player base partakes in regular forum discussions for any given game?

Look at the forum traffic for the power play subforums, vs the power play sub reddits and discords.

Does the sub forum activity look like is is representative of the player base that is active is power play.

Then ask yourself, does a fundamental change in Power Play seem like them thing people might actually take the effort to participate in.

Not just Open only, but changes in Missions offering new ways to participate, being able to undermine if it beats fortification by one hundred percent and several changes to voting and nomination to attempt to address the issue of 5th Collumnist.

All big things I am sure many power play participants would want to express their voice into even if they normally avoid the forums.

It feels this forum has an element that views difference in opinions as fundamental wrong, and that on one hand accuses FDev of never listening and on the other when FDev ask for feedback feel the need to paint any opposing views as not different or wrong with counter arguments, but simply invalid lies and falsehoods.

Nice. I'm actually killing (and being killed) at the Patreus expansion at the moment.

We'll probably need PvP wings for all kinds of stuff now.

There are a couple of threads talking about PP potentially going open-only. One on here where there is debate happening, one on the focused feedback forum were there should not be debate, only direct feedback to the devs.

That other feedback thread is being flooded with "yes, open only for PP" comments by new forum accounts.

This is a pattern anyone who's played EVE will have seen before. We are being metagamed.

It is obvious that groups who do not normally participate here are whistling up their members to join and post approving comments on the feedback thread.

You might well be right but if they've paid for the game they're as entitled to express their opinon as I am, regardless of whether they do it as frequently.

If people were alt-spamming that would be another story.

Am I on some Chinese forum? Cuz that's the pattern I usually see there, "opinions from people with low forum ranks should not be considered, only the seniors' thoughts matter". I apologize if that's not what you meant.;)

Besides, "go hide in solo and haul cargo/AFK cz farming" type of PVP is proven to be not very popular, it's about time to try something else.

The last time I complained about the feed back forum forum format, I woke up in one of Mycroft Holmes' holding cells. :(

Sockpuppets aren't that hard to detect & remove, and if they are genuine accounts their contribution is surely welcome.

If a large number or posters give low quality feedback the more convincing argument will still win over.

Even if the open only rule is added, if the player stats don't stack up to expectations after a few weeks it can be reverted back. I'd say it's worth a try regardless, if only to find out what the real issue is once people have been given what they say they want. A lot of good could come out of this, and not a great deal of bad imo.

I doubt it.

It would be nice if there was a way to have actual voting on things by verified player accounts. If I recall correctly the forum accounts are not directly linked to the game accounts.

In this case, if the accounts in this forum were linked to game accounts, FDev could fairly easily weed out most of the astroturf votes, if there are any, by removing the vote of any account who had never earned a PP merit!

If this was possible, I would not be opposed the votes of those who had played PowerPlay for many months and/or earned large amounts of merits receiving extra weight.

Franky, I doubt it matters much though because I've seldom seen where player opinion makes much difference in Frontier's decisions.
