General / Off-Topic Fox cancel Lucifer

Gutted, American TV baffles me in how it decides to commission TV shows. I watch a huge amount of American TV shows as the quality is a magnitude greater than the dross turned out over here in the U.K. so when a show as brilliant as Lucifer is cut my mind boggles, with lethal weapon on the ‘bubble’ too my heart lies heavy this weekend.

...and I wonder why shows like 'Death in Paradise' are ended in the UK.

I do know the answer why it happens in the US...the shows are not making money because people stop watching them. Lucifer, in this country, was lucky to be made...a show about Satan, living amongst us? The Right wing was losing its mind over it!

"The American Family Association's One Million Moms website has launched a petition calling for Fox to halt its plans to air a new television series called "Lucifer" in 2016, saying the program "mischaracterizes" Satan and "mocks the Bible.""

KSPR (ABC) in Springfield MO didn't run the original Battlestar Galactica due to pressure from religious groups in the late 70's-early 80's.

maybe they should have made him head of the N.R.A and really set the cat among the pigeons. Seems in the end its being put down to scheduling conflicts now FOX has the N.F.L on Thursdays. My fingers are crossed Amazon will pick it up it’s made for them.

What?!

Lucifer is loved! Why would they cancel it? It's a brilliant, hilarious show.

I hope another network picks it up.

Why do shows like Big Bang Theory seem to go on forever, when they eventually become dull and repetitive. Yet a show with 2000 years of history to mock gets cancelled...

The fact that it mocks the Bible is why o watch it. :p

I really enjoyed the first couple of seasons. Havent watched it much recently, too much emotional angst on the part of the characters.
I think of it as the Data syndrome from STNG, the writers start running out of ideas and plots become a trudge of emotional hand wringing.

I suspect that if it goes on long enough, Lucifer will turn into a real boy, just like Data.

As much as I liked the show, the formula was really starting to show. Every episode has Lucier blindly obsess on a single thing that has to do with himself, with only a passing interest on the case at hand, and a revelation about the case ends up always relating to his own personal problem.

What amuses me about Lucifer is the claim that the devil never lies. Which is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Devil means deceiver in the Hebrew.

Unfortunately true.

After season 1 ended, it turned into a repetitive police procedural where every episode was pretty much the same over and over again, with the main plot and the maon characters never moving anywhere.

It's a shame, as I quite enjoyed season 1. But since season 2 started, it was a matter of time before getting the boot.

Yeah, I think every show that has a following deserves to have a 6-12 episode season wrap up when a cancellation is announced.

Of course these days the option seems to be for another network to pick it up (ie Netflix ;) )

Netflix rescued Lucifer.

I hope they can breathe new life onto the show, I liked it a lot in the beginning, but it truly went down fast since season 2.

Yeah, it did very quickly become "Will they, won't they" procedural. Hopefully Netflix will give them more freedom to move away from that template.
