FPS difference between open and solo/pg

2 friends 11 and 22k ly out - 60fps drop to 17-22fps, they go to solo, stable 60fps

Ah, thanks for confirming, that does kinda seem unlikely to be an coincident. Did you report this?

If you are saying 120fps is bad and then it gets worse....I can't fathom that. Sounds like the addition of the 3rd person camera has borked the performance.
