FPS drop in concourses after a while

With the game update 8, I have noticed odd problem with the FPS drops in the planetary port concourse, happening after a while. I am placing it here instead of the regular bug reports as I am not exactly sure what may be causing it, if the problem was introduced in the update 8 or may have been present in the previous game versions as well (didn't notice it to this extent earlier). As it may point out some bigger underlying issue, the more observations and discoveries from other commanders, the better.

Some details:
I have visited Biggle Escape in HIP 21369 (at the planet night side at the time of testing) and I've got nice and more or less stable 60 FPS (capped) across the whole concourse. Definitely an improvement in comparison to the previous updates. BUT, after wandering around the concourse and looking everywhere for a while, the framerate was dropping down to the point of 28 FPS (depending on the camera view), even in the places and camera position/angles, which had 60 FPS previously. I am unable to identify the exact trigger of the problem - sometimes the FPS may drop a lot, sometimes less, but there definitely is a noticeable performance decrease over time there (this decrease appears to be GPU related). Did you notice something similar? Do you know what may be causing it? Please share below. :)

Technical details:
5800X, RTX 2070, 32GB RAM, W10, latest drivers, 1440p borderless with max. details set.

I experienced same thing. But my PC isn't so powerful. Same experience with lowering fps values over the time. For example after entering social area on the station I have 35 fps (60 in the ship). After a while fps may be near 30 or 25. It may restore some value after standing in one place but commonly still lower then expected. I can return to the ship and fps will be around 40 after all.

Something eats it during the time.

Btw opening graphic settings menu may drop my fps even more :-D

I have a lower specced PC but here's my experience: On the first opening of the game, the framerates in concourses improved by almost 100%, but then moving to a different station and disembarking makes my framerate tank to 20 to low 30s. Exiting to the main menu and logging back in brings back the performance improvement.

This happened to me in the first launch of the update I saw pleasing 50fps+ in the concourse, I remained there but I was switching between desktop to check forums, do screenshots etc and I think I left myself switched to desktop for a number of minutes and when I returned to the game the FPS had consistantly tanked to 30s fps in the same locations. I rebooted the game and the good performance returned but I couldnt make it tank again, e.g. by switching to desktop etc Not sure what caused it but I didnt notice it, maybe Windows de-prioritised the game somehow?!

Seems similar to performance after Update 5, where in a settlement my fps would drop from normal down below 25 and be extra choppy after a while.

BTW I updated my driver from 21.2.3 to 21.10.3 and got some fps :) 35 to almost 60 at the concourse loading. But OP problem is still here. Fps slowly drops over the time.

Same for me. My system is quite old, but manages to keep 80FPS @ 1440p on ultra settings in Horizon.
In Oddysey, I'm running the High preset @ 1440p with FSR and CAS disabled.

Went down from 50-60 FPS when docked to 18 FPS in the bar area on the lower level (I'm currently docked at an outpost: Carter Horizons in LHS 1226).
After boarding the ship again, FPS never fully recovered and hovered around 35.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700 @ 3,40GHz (Skylake)
Mobo: Asus Z170-A
RAM: Crucial 16GB DDR4-2132 / 1066MHz
Graphics: Asus GTX980 Strix 4GB GDDR5

This has been a constant issue for me from the release of Odyssey. Assuming I am getting good frame rates in the concourse and then do some other stuff and return to the concourse, I often find my frame rate has fallen considerably. If I then exit the game and relogin to the same concourse then the frame rate returns to the higher value.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 16GB RAM, RTX 2080 @ 3440x1440, WD BLACK SN850 NVMe SSD

This sort of thing originally occurred at the release of Horizons with the then new planetary tech. They eventually fixed it.

Another observation, which may be related:
This time, I tested Arai Cultivations in Veletanyan. Most of the time, it runs 60 FPS (capped), but it has sudden drops to 35-45 FPS for something around 6-8 seconds, then it stabilizes to 60 FPS again. During these moments, the graphics card load drops, too. The quite reliable way how to replicate it is to run to the (only) HAB building there - from the airlock, continue through the room to the large window just in front of it. Then, turn around and go back to the middle of the airlock and stand here. Then, turn around again and go to the window and so on. In both cases (in the airlock and in front of the window), you should see the FPS drops.

It seems to me it may have something to do with how assets and their LODs may be swapped between the regular and video memory? No disk activity or noticeably increased CPU activity during these moments (also, all cores are running below their limits), just FPS drops and lower GPU utilization. Similar thing is happening on the first settlement visit, this time are the assets loaded from the disk (SSD) and FPS drops to something around 20-28 FPS. But just guessing here...

It seems like there's a buildup of...something somewhere in the game code that isn't getting properly flushed. Perhaps a memory leak, perhaps some kind of game data archive leak or something. I dont know, something that is tracked while in an instance that should be flushed when you leave but isn't getting flushed.

Without this problem i would say it's playable. It is just to annoying when you see framerete droped you have to relog.

Propably unrelated but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Somehow I have a feeling in solo the lags and stutters are way less then in open, and it could be network related.
When I get lags and stutters, usually the bandwidth meter spikes, did anyone of you take that into account already?

Yeah the biggest thing keeping me away from playing Odyssey is frankly mostly just the framerate. The shallow gameplay I can deal with since that's just always how it's been for Elite. But the framerate issues are just too much for me to want to deal with constantly.
