[FRAME SHIFT] Roadrunner MEEP MEEP : Splat!

Every time I come out of a frame shift ... it goes something like this.
OH HELLO SUN!
PRETTY!

WHAM!

Can you not throw us at the sun EVERYTIME?

Its getting annoying.

When you hear the countdown, set your speed back to 0. You'll exit hyperspace at 30 km/s only.

isn't that a getting round a game design thingy?

Shouldn't they fix that? Its a tash cinematic at first , but it just get annoying after you've gotten used to it.

It's all down to the game lore of how of the FTL drives work so unlikely to change I'm afraid. Check out the design discussion archives for more info.

Personally, I just throttle back to blue, (staying in sc on hyperspace exit), pitch up or down to put sun directly behind me, select dock as target and align, no exiting sc, putting sun behind avoids any 'escape vector' nonsense as well, happy days!

You aim at the sun because its the brightest thing in the solar system you're aiming at, and can be seen from light years away, and its the biggest so the gravity will show you down. All you need to do is roll so the sun is above you and push down until its directly 90 degrees from your angle of attack. Then open the nav menu and select your destination.

It is a pain in the neck doing this everytime, especially in a lakon. Look away for a second and your already too late.

Maybe have us a little bit further out or allow us to get closer.
Or, which would make more sense. Exit hyperspace in normal speed, not supercruise, then line up and engage SC.

As others have said, when you hyperspace jump, you're aiming at a system's largest mass, it's sun, and using its mass shadow to drag yourself out of Witchspace.

If you want to avoid getting mass locked after the jump, make sure you throttle down before you exit Witchspace. All it takes is a little discipline, and perhaps an in-jump checklist.

The thing is, we will be getting fuel scoops. In the old game you would scoop from a star, if thats the case in this game as well, who would not want to end up directly at a star, scoop fuel and be on the move again.

Not sure if OP is trolling or not?

It really isn't that hard to either-

1, set speed to zero after exiting warp.
2, turn away from the star after you exit warp.

You won't scoop from the star itself, just hydrogen from its corona to make fuel out of it. We will be able to do the same from gas giants too as per previous games, although according to the DDF this will be lesser grade fuel than you would buy at a station :)

Someone posted before I could press submit.

I just keep a couple of fingers over the S and X keys so I'm ready to pull up or push down the moment I drop out of hyperspace.

You haven't played the old game have you?

Anyways, one youtube there is a footage where David mentions something about scooping fuel from the atmosphere of gas giants. I suspect that the lag you notice flying near gas giants has something to do with it. I guess we just have to wait and see.
