Newcomer / Intro Frameshift Drive maximum Speed

Hello everybody,

this is my first thread in this forum, I also searched a lot about this topic but i cant find any solution, or even if this is a normal ingame feature.

so my questions has nothing to do with the save zone or something like that, the thing with 7 sec ETA is working quite well.

my question is about the maximum speed (at the moment something about 500 c)
when i am heading a station or something like this with a distance from 100.000 ls, i'll charge my FSD and accelerate to over 500 c (automaticly) when i am in the distance about 53.000 ls it will automaticly throttle down. Sure it is better to get to the save spot, but why cant i go with maximum speed until 20k or 10k and break by myself. Or would it be too fast ?

is there any function in my ship i have to deactivate about that ?

Thanks for your help.

You would probably overshoot by several lightyears. You only slow down because you have selected the target, try and just head in the direction you want without selecting a target and see what happens.

okay, so i just jump out of the hyperspace, look at the system map to which planet the station belongs and dont target the station ... right ?

or is there any other good possibility to go ahead a targeted station ?

EDIT: just tried it to head a planet without taking it into target ... but it doesnt helped.
the speed throtteled down at a distance from aprox 50k ls

so what am i doing wrong ?

your ships onboard computer will automatically throttle you down when approaching any body in space im assuming for "space health and safety" reasons. I have got up to 700c+ depends on the distance between bodies, I assume the more distance the faster??

yes, basically you the point in space where the station is and, without targeting, fly towards it

just tried it ... just flew in the direction of the planet without targeting, but he throtteled down automaticly

and you cant deactivate it i think right?

yes, i think so. Also i think it depends on the ship

Right, I think there might be a misunderstanding about how the FSD (Frame Shift Drive) works. Essentially, your maximum speed varies constantly. The closer to other bodies you are, the lower your top speed is. In addition, your acceleration and deceleration are reduced. Which also means that your stopping distance varies constantly too, which is the reason to leave it to the computer to sort!
The maximum recorded is either 1650c or 2000c, I think, but you need to be a huge distance from other stuff to get to those speeds, so it doesn't matter day-to-day.
If your target is a big distance from the star, you can start on full throttle and bring it back later on, but it's generally easier to keep it in the blue until you are used to it, then try playing with other ways of doing stuff...

I tried to reach another system by SC. Later I read this isn't possible because of game internals, but my Sidey was maxed out at 2001c.

There really is no max speed for SC if you have no taget. I have reached as high as 2900 before I got board. If you do not target anything or target another system and fly towards it in supercruise your speed just keeps going up until you stop.

The FSD is affected by gravity wells, so you will accelerate faster the further you are from a star/planet, & you will start to decelerate as you approach them. If you keep the throttle in the blue zone it will adjust your speed more effectively, & if you keep it at maximum you are much more likely to overshoot.
It's complicated & rather clever, but once you get used to manipulating the mechanism it works extremely well.

Actually the next system was at 0.3 Ly, so no great gravity influence. My speed was nailed at 2001c and didn't change for half an hour. Maybe it depends on shp type or FSD class. But anyway you can't reach another system this way. The game internally changes the instance while jumping.

2001C is the max (Hutton Orbital in Alpha Centauri has been the proving ground for that.) And aye if you do fly to another system, it doesn't seem to load the stellar bodies, from a test someone did during beta - can't say whether that has changed or no, though, given what we know of the internals, I suspect it remains the same right enough.
