Franchise Community Challenge Discussion

Was about to say that I hadn't spotted any of those, but I just picked up "4 Crash Bandic Horn"
Just in time to avoid having to mix a poor stat male, with 4 good females

But agree; looks like they might again have bounced from an easy target to a mountainous one, without finding the middle ground
Maybe the flexibility they've built into challenge targets is just how many zeros they can add after the 1 :p

Just to confirm .. the conservation boards I had alongside the station queue have still not been read.
That's a shame :(

But also reminded me to do my homework:
  • walking through the area for an educational speaker, even when not actively viewing a habitat, and you can watch the education bar slowly rise
  • but educational speakers for transport queues don't work either; they stop gaining education the instant they go past the ticket booth
  • same for shops; the speakers educate them as they walk past, but stop the instant they aim for the shop even if there's not a queue

So really - catch them when viewing animals, or just walking the paths
I've been going to great efforts to cover transport queues, shops and restaurants, and it was all for nought 😢

And to think it's taken us this long to realise it 🤣

As to the challenge ..3rd gold rhino and it's put me onto the bronze podium .. So, there are plenty of people out there for the 3 to get me in that percentage group. But, it's whether we can do it as a group.

I've been doing the breeding trick and carting off the babies to a Conservation Zone with a formula one track again for the guests rofl. Baby donations + drinks + forced transport = hopefully some good money. If I can make that zoo work, passing the guests around with safari rides to view the animals in their natural habitat (rofl ) then it might be something worth doing for habitat space limitations and breeding challenges.

At least we no longer need to blast the shop vendors with the same spiel constantly :p

Personally, the challenge for me is going well and the zoo is functioning nicely - hit 25 yesterday and expect similar today.
Mostly due to the Black Rhinos with their 30 months between births, compared to the 60 months of the other two.
Have lots of small habitats for them to recuperate and only a few habitats with males

Could do something similar with the Southern White Rhinos, but no chance with the faithful spouses of the Indian Rhinos

Thats interesting ..
The breeding cheat where you in essence disconnect the baby from the family by placing them in a different zoo entirely. Well, sometimes the mother totally forgets she even has a child, rather than show it as perpetually pregnant whilst letting her get actually pregnant rofl. Just had it happen to me .. was looking at my one gold Southern Rhino after she got pregnant again and noticed she had 0 babies. Went to the male just in case I had replaced the breeding group, but there they all were .. 4 babies across 4 females. Goes back to the females and they are all showing fake pregnancies again for each of their existing babies rofl.

And sweet .. gold black rhino from non medalled parents .. :)

And my 4th gold put me on the silver podium .. I'd be happy if I knew we were more likely to get this completed in time 🤣

So what I have catch on is that the DLCs for this current challenge is accepted?
Yep, sometimes the newest DLC doesn't have it's animals flagged to work with the challenges but for the most part all DLC animals will usually be acceptable - depending on the challenge itself that is.

I've also just put up my first baby rhino ( can't remember which at the moment ) that has just reached adulthood.

Honestly, this challenge is impossible and boring :oops:
I am out

I'm still enjoying the challenge, but that's because I always set my own goals within a challenge, and I can still strive towards those
And it's still been fun expanding the zoo to meet the challenge and optimising it for Rhino reproduction

But the sad thing about an impossible target, is that we lose a lot of the community aspect of the community challenge:
there's little point working together, just so we can collectively fail 😞

Yeah, and seeing such a low percentage part way through just puts off people who felt like taking part.

My zoo has been blazing by with just 6 species in it, and no exhibits of any kind. Almost up to 2 million making this zoo my 2nd profitable zoo ( if I had kept the other zoo when I did a clean out last week rofl ). I also have nearly 20 baby rhinos sitting in the Conservation Zoos but 3% with 3 days to go for both PC and Console, hopefully the devs will see that the same numbers of people were trying to take part but clearly weren't able to complete it pointing to the challenge being the issue rather than the player base.

Hows this for an income report rofl.

Impressive - I always need to subsidise these challenge zoos with exhibits

By contrast, mine shows $0.0 income and a total profit of about -$1,000,000 per year!
And nothing in that finance tab tells the story for my zoo, until you go into the graphs tab and see the animal transfer costs as about +$1,100,000 per year
The sale of offspring from about 700 butterflies supporting 87 staff, and actively feeding 120 rhinos and 170 elephants (+enrichment animals)

Yeah I hated my zoos with that type of finance page. Hopefully I'll keep this monetary system working in my new zoos, so far all of the Community Challenge zoos are in or approaching millions so looking good there. The new Conservation Zoos just need more work and time on them.

Your type of zoo certainly feels more "honest" - I do at least stick to Hard mode, but I'm playing by the letter of the rules rather than by the spirit of them :p

Still; there are lots of animal sanctuaries around the world that are more about taking care of the animals, rather than spending 90% of your effort keeping the guests happy :ROFLMAO:
(that defense might hold more water if I could find an example that uses butterflies as the basis of their finances )

Yeah, I switched to easy mode for the Challenges and the Conservation Zoos for the babies. It could explain why those are making money easier so .. it will be interesting to see how well I do when I start working on my new hard mode zoos.
I would definitely be happier if I could create true sanctuaries that didn't need regular guests and their facilities but worked on external donations and you have to promote the zoo for those donations. A nice spin on the game mode as it is now.
