Franchise server issues since update

I have been able to play Franchise today and place animals in habitats from the tradecentre. BUT! I get the "offline-Error" message around once every 30sec to a min, and it is impossible to buy any animals. Everytime I try I get the Offline-Error message :( I haven't been able to buy a single animal all day, even after trying over 100 times...

For me the game is playable again. Starting from the same time as yesterday. SO it feels like the servers are just having some "ghost data" that fills them up during the day and gets reset with the nightly check.

I was able to play last night for about 30 minutes before I got disconnected- but my trade center was once again filled with newborn foxes! Some of my foxes who have only been bred once now have 12 or 18 cubs... too bad this is a test generation and I'm not keeping any of them!

I just find it extremely frustrating that I paid for a DLC but can't buy any of the new animals because of the Franchise issues :( But ye, hopefully it will be resolved next week so that I can finally get some more of the new animals (still haven't gotten a single wild boar or wolverine, the two animals I was most excited about :( :( )

Will post my problem here too as there are only franchise players in this thread;

I got a new problem today in Franchise mode. I have bought a bunch of the new animals but haven't put any of them in zoo's yet, as I was focusing on getting the zoo's ready.
But today I was ready to put the new animals in the zoo. The problem is though, that I can't! :( Every time I try to put any of them in a zoo I get an Internal error message and get the "you are offline" for a few minutes. This problem ONLY occurs when trying to place one of the new animals from the latest pack. When i move another animal from trading post to a habitat it works just fine, but all of the new ones seem to bug the game out.

Have anyone else experienced this in Franchise?

Edit: I did a verification of the game files and that did not help
For me, the disconnects seem to be pretty random, though maybe they are happening most often when I am building things, placing objects, trying to place animals, or attempting to buy an animal. But no one thing appears to be the poison pill for me.

I have even had it occur when the game is simply running, though. They have been varying between allowing me to play for up to half an hour or so without issue, but at other times the disconnects come every few minutes at best. It has always taken me a while (in spite of having a pretty fast computer and internet) to quit the game and get back into a franchise zoo, so the ratio of play time to staring at that spinning globe isn't worth it. I was away visiting family for a few days over the Christmas holiday and just got home late last night, so I haven't checked yet to see if it's better now that the holiday weekend is over.

Note that occasional, random disconnects from the server (when I am verifiably online) has always been a thing with this game, but it used to be an average of every couple hours overall, with some days better than others. I haven't had such a long run of such bad connectivity to the franchise servers. I can still play in career mode etc. but not in franchise, which is where I prefer to build my zoos. I like being able to transfer animals between different franchise zoos and to breed up some of my lineages over time while being able to obtain good quality animals from other players to keep the gene pool strong, so I haven't really gotten into the sandbox mode (except to create blueprints and so on).

The thing that frustrates me is not that there would be an issue fixing this over a holiday weekend, but that it's been a problem for as long as it has prior to the holiday and that this has cropped up repeatedly over the years (as per the date of this original thread, which was not the first time players have mentioned frequent server disconnects and trade center lag/disconnects in these, and in other PZ forums).

By now they must know that things can get a bit wonky after an xpac/big update launches and plan for this. But yea, I am not a coder or IT expert or anything like that, so I'm sure there is another side to the story. Still, I also understand why folks get frustrated when they hope to spend some free time playing the new content during their holiday break.

One thing I've been curious about is whether or not there is a pattern of some kind re the disconnects. Some have mentioned time of day, with fewer during off peak hours. Are people in certain locations more inclined to have these issues? Are they more or less common for folks in the UK and western Europe, for instance? Is it worse at times when more people are playing, or for folks who live further from the servers, or who play at times when Frontier offices are mostly closed? I haven't noticed that it's better in what might be off-peak hours for me. I live in the western US, so my prime play time (mid to late evenings) would presumably be wee hours of the morning to early morning in the UK and western Europe, which is many hours ahead of me. Is that actually a better time, because more players are in the UK and Europe and presumably asleep then, or worse because the support folks are also mostly asleep at that time?

Guess It's the same where I live (Germany) because I remember reading about other People also disconnecting every few Seconds when it got that incredibly bad for me a few Days ago

I live in Sweden, so just one hour of from UK I think, and on peek hours I usually get disconnects a few times an hour. But these last few weeks and especially the last week it has been every minute, even outside of peek time (but then again, it's the holidays, so there aren't really peek hours like usual week-days)

Also, another very annoying part (that has actually not been as bad for the last few days), is when I get the disconnect messages over and over again while trying to get into the zoo's i.e. from the main starter page to the franchise zoo's. Sometimes it takes me hours just to be able to get into a zoo... But the worst part by far right now is that it is impossible for me to buy any animals from the market :(

I just loaded San Bernardino Zoo and 200 animals have disappeared - they are not in their habitats or the trade centre. Just.... gone. Can't afford to replace the conservation credit ones either. I would advise leaving Franchise mode well alone until this hopefully gets fixed in the new year. I haven't used the gift shops at all so this issue is not caused by that.
Likely they are just hung up by whatever it is that is bogging down their file transfer process and will reappear once things are fixed. Still, that's upsetting :(

Same, I also live in Sweden and seem to get these disconnects every few minutes or so, but it's difficult to tell what hours people are most active during holiday times... nods

I'm wondering if the disconnects are when the game tries to autosave. The only other recognisable time is when I go to sell for cash or send to trade center both of which travel via the trade center. I can't remember if the release had that problem - but there was an increasing delay in getting the release confirm window appearing. I checked task manager and just after quitting the game 40% of my memory was still in use by the game. So possibly, short game sessions ( which I do most of the time anyway ) could decrease that potential crashing issue.

I had it disconnecting several times earlier today - almost every time it was during a trade center action happening. So, maybe their servers are having issues at certain times of the day when perhaps it is more busier than normal ? I can play at unusual times so maybe the times I don't have disconnects is when I play those unsocial hours.

Haven't gotten any more updates from the support folks re my ticket, aside from a request to rate them. I indicated that the issue is still unresolved but the folks talking to me about it were doing their best. Hopefully there will be progress now that Christmas and Boxing Day holidays are over, though there is New Year coming up too.

I don't think anyone understands why the ongoing server disconnect issue has become so bad at this point in time, with this particular pre-holiday expansion pack.

Challenge zoos are very limiting compared to franchise mode. They have a very small selection of animals available in their version of the trade center, none from the more recent packs or from more temperate climes :(

While I haven't had any issues with the gift shops I'm not playing much at all since I'm definitely getting this disconnect issue a lot. Really curb my interest for holiday play. Hopefully though it gets resolved early on in the new year.

By resolved...I mean there's of course always going to occasional and sporadic disconnects, attributed to many different factors. But this seems rather widespread, or maybe I'm just reading into that.

I think I've noticed it more recently because I've been in Planet Zoo play mode. 41 hours in the last 2 weeks. There were most disconnects in the last week ( xmas week/easy challenge week ) than the weeks before.

This is different from the usual sporadic disconnects, I think. For one thing, they aren't "really" disconnects, since hitting escape tends to get us back into play mode temporarily, but the franchise trade center is having serious issues too (though I still get those disconnect messages, even if I don't touch the trade center). Today is the worst yet, and I've been pretty much unable to buy or sell animals from the trade center at all. As of late tonight (1:38 AM, US west coast time, so I'd say this isn't peak play hours in the US or Europe at this point), I can't even move animals from my own trade center to habitats in a Franchise zoo. For me, the issue is getting steadily worse.

Looking at the Issue Tracker forum, there are a large number of posts regarding these issues. I don't know if there is a common denominator for all the players experiencing this or not. They seem to come from different countries, but it's hard to see if there's a particular array of computer configurations re processors, video cards etc. Most people don't include that information with their reports. My system is well above the recommended specs, so it's not that. I've even tried firing up my older computer, and it has the same issue.

I've even tried temporarily disabling my antivirus protection and firewall, and that has no effect on the issue.

Yesterday the issues where like every hour, now they seem like every minute
Bumping this issue to add my own two cents. Am in New Mexico USA, disconnecting from the franchise server today almost every minute or so as well after starting my franchise, and am utterly unable to buy the animals i want with just a limited list of animals in animal trading, and not able to trade my own animals :[ .. Franchise has become unplayable over the course of this week getting worse and worse. Just bought new dlc in the steam sale and can't even buy the animals.

I am in London UK so location to server isn't an issue for me. Unless of course their franchise servers are not in or near London rofl.

Anyway, I have an empty research zoo I cleared out of all habitats/exhibits and animals and literally have staff buildings ( including a trade center ) and an engineer.

The recent disconnects seem to happen on all my populated zoos so thought I would test a theory.

Populated Zoo. (168 animals tied to the zoo - showing in list, over 3000 guests )
Started : 23:19:09
Disconnected: 23:19:50 - Reconnected: 23:20:31
Disconnected: 23:26:00
Disconnected: 23:26:08
Disconnected: 23:26:13 - Reconnected: 23:26:37
Disconnected: 23:27:32 - Reconnected: 23:28:14
Finished : 23:38:50

The zoo was paused for the most part, including during the disconnects.

Empty Zoo ( no animals tied to the zoo - although 2 babies were last moved to another zoo yesterday ).
Started: 23:40:24
Finished: 23:53:48
No Disconnects, despite tampering with the trade center and purchasing an animal for one of the other zoos.

Same Populated Zoo
Started: 23:55:22
Disconnected: 23:56:09 - Reconnected: 23:56:51
Disconnected: 23:57:44 - Reconnected: 23:58:24
Finished : 23:58:34

Conclusion. The animals in the zoo are possibly the problem.

Being a franchise, any traded animal that then has children, will appear on your related animals family trees. So, even though you are not actively touching the trade center, buying, selling etc. Your animals are breeding and that info is coming back to the animals you still have. Of course, this depends on how they are keeping those trees updated and stored. Are they tied to the animal, your zoo, or the main server ? ponders

Next test will be 2 zoos. One containing minimal animals purchased from Frontier ( no family history ) and the other purchased from a player ( family history ).
