Had problems with either Win10 Fall update, Nvidia 388.59, the ED 2.4.09 update or Oculus 2.0. The game was a stuttering mess, completely unplayable with low frames despite not maxing out of the CPU or GPU.
System specs 6600k (4.6ghz), 980 ti, SSD, 16gb DDR4 etc. Normally fine in VR.
I checked to make sure the MS game settings in Win10 were all disabled as had read this could have a negative impact. I tried to roll back the nvidia drivers to previous working ones but they would not install due to the Win10 update. Tried to roll back the Win10 update and it messed my Win10 install up completely and I could not repair it.
Long story short. I re-installed Win10, oculus home, ED and nividia drivers. Stutter now gone despite being on exactly the same versions (Win10 1709, ED 2.4.09, Nvidia 388.59 and Oculus 2.0).
Also and more intestingly I swear the performance and visuals are better. I used to also get a little stutter when looking left and right with the pop up menus, now it is completely smooth. Also the readability of the text seems much better. The colours seem different somehow. The default orange looks like a lighter shade despite the same HUD and gamma settings. Very odd but I like it! [noob]
Re-installing everything was a pain but just thought I'd share. Probably won't have the same impact for everyone but I thought it was an interesting finding. If you are bored over Xmas...
