Ducks are easy to find round here, 4 virgins might be a bit more challenging:p

Funnily enough I only use facebook for posting pics of my ducks to my family!
A paranoid man may think it time to delete said account and hide as you all seem to know about my ducks!

Thank god I didn't post that I'm four times a virgin on facebook too or I'd be really worried:eek:

As to the poll - as I said I only use it for one thing and find everything else on facebook as a big turnoff.
Ooh ooh like me like me and all that.
Probably not what you want to hear really!

But on a positive note I am actively promoting the game on other forums and I find word of mouth to be very useful - tell someone else and let them post it on facebook:)

I only have a Facebook account in order to keep in touch with one friend who insists on using it as her exclusive method of social contact. Other than that I ignore it.

like the majority of flesh and blood people here , i dont use facetheft to sell my info to undisclosed 3rd parties , store my details on 3rd party srevers (posibly in countries with no data protection laws as per their TOS) or to look up ED info.

i eventualy 'deleted' my account the dat they changed the TOS to the above situation with only a staff vote of 50.1% for out of 300 , accedently the internal mail server crashed delaying the vote notifications. (the open vote the month before was 99.9% against out of 25 milion ). then replaced the harddrive in the PC i used for it.

never wanted to infect any of my PC's with twituser.

hate forums (but tolerate using this one) as most of the structures are inverse intuative (yes invers not counter) and generaly desisions are made based on who has the most accounts (not saying that is the case here) which in normaly the proverbial 15 yr old american boy thit the maturity of a 10 yr old and several hundred accounts on all of the above.

PS sorry this wasnt ment as a rant even tho it ended up that way

PPS back to a testosterone/oestrogen free knight with the 4 girls and a duck .

edit i am mostly only partly reading the alpha forum these days due to shere volume of posts , as predicted HERE

Facebook is for gossip.

Forums are for facts, supposition, here say, rumor, counter rumor, contradiction, out and out rubbish and abuse...oh wait

No longer use Facebook, it's an awful thing. Unless you like pictures of cats, someones dinner and want to know if it's raining outside. Plus all the stupid hoaxs, 'like this if you or someone you know has ...' posts..
Sounds like you simply had some bad friends picked there. My friends mostly talk about news of the day and exchange links to interesting news articles etc. It is a great way to keep in contact with people who have ended up living far away from you.

If someone shares pics of their cats etc., I block them pretty quickly.

I see the updates there but almost always after I've read them here.

Although I think a tweet and FB post on when a new phase is available for download/upgrade would be wonderful!

I check it when I need to find some official communication. I find it easier to link the article I want via facebook. That said, I rarely look at it. All new news comes via the forum. In fact, all the interesting comments and li'l notes Developers place on the forum are of far more interest than the official news via Facebook.

Was originally dragged into stalkerbook by a friend who tagged me in photos and I had to have a profile to see them, a clever if duplicitous way of increasing registrations.

I do use it for friends and family but mainly those far away.
I actually have a friend who regularly posts pictures of his cat. I don't mind it.

Avoiding twitter like the plague.

Avoiding twitter like the plague.

Twitter's not bad,
I see an increasing number of tweets about Elite D.

You can get a lot of news about a lot of subjects in a very short time. If something happens around the world you'll see it first on twitter, and you don't have to read much about cat's either ;)

I think it's interesting to see that the "no to farcebook" and "no to guilds" seem to correlate.

I am sure someone much better than me with numbers could work it out more precisely, but if you take our age demographic, our apathy to grouping, our disdain of social media, our funding levels from our disposable income - I think it'd be fairly safe to say us 80's n00bs are very different from the guildie socially-dependent snivellers.

I'm not saying better or worse, simply different.

I find the results of this poll to be quite interesting too. I would be surprised if the guild and social media thing are connected.

Whilst I avoid Facebook like the plague I quite using Twitter but when it comes to Facebook its obviously an area that could potentially help market the game. I know lots of us backers were old school Elite players in the 80s but I'm curious about the age demographic of all of us now the numbers have crept up. I hope the game is attracting younger gamers too, they are also much more likely to be using Facebook and other social media imo.

True, I tend to check Twitter frequently and only FB when I get home ;)

No to Facebook and twitter - and I work in IT.

It's just that I'd rather go out and meet real people to talk to over a beer, food, whatever, rather than read about people I hardly know telling me they've just had a dump or 'unliked' me, whatever that is

I think the forum has spoken.

200 votes in (small sample size I know) 75% of respondents don't or won't use Facebook.

Speaks volumes to me that does.

Facebook .. scourge of the devil!

I like it. I get to insult Kow and Drew and Happer.

I stopped checking elite forums cause of the slow information, at first use to check it every day now may be ones a week or even more.

Not using facebook here, not even passively. If FD want to post information there, sure, but please make sure that it always gets posted here on the forums, or the main website, too. It is so annoying having to hunt information across multiple 3rd party sites, especially ones like facebook which I don't even find suitable for this kind of thing, when we could just have all the stuff available right here.

Promote the game over there? Sure. But I've seen cases where official news on official forums and websites consisted of little more than a headline and a link to facebook, when it should be the other way round. Use facebook etc. to direct people to the game and here, but don't use the forum and website to direct us to facebook.
