From GTX 650 to GTX 960 Best upgrade evaaaaaaa!!!!!

I was using a 660Ti in triple screen surround with Ultra settings no problem......have since upgraded to a 980, and to be honest, I've not seen a huge difference in Elite. Obviously, in other games like Far Cry 4, and AC:Unity there was a massive performance increase, but Elite still ticked over the same. A testament to the Devs work!

I have a 970 & a UHD monitor, however the nVidia Experience app suggests 2560x1440 for this game.

It looks superb either way.

what ever im running this game and its giving me a a constant 120 fps what ever resolution i choose so if you bought a 980 you paid extra for what the magazine called a 0.005 % increase in power
120FPS?

Looks like the 970 is under the 780ti.....

I went from a 560 to a 980 WOW is all I can say. In truth it is really not all that.. I was expecting a lot more.. still I am more pleased and now my card no longer over heats :)

It is great the jump u get after an upgrade. I went from some lower end Radeon 7900 to the GTX 970, and whoa. Now I need to upgrade my CPU! ;)

seriously though - you will see barely NO difference running either of these cards in a game.
Only difference is someone got a cheaper card and someone else got a more expensive card.
They will all run games exceptionally well.
They will all feel outdated at the same time in the future.

I have a lowly mini GTX760 and every single game I play is at Ultra or Highest. Unless your Ultra or Highest settings are somehow better than mine, I don't see any point upgrading or fighting over who's is best.

I run an AMD HD7970... game runs beautifully with everything maxed at 1080p. The new shadows and AA brought in with 1.1 actually made it smoother too, which was nice.

I might wait a bit and see what the AMD 380X / 390 cards are like. Early impressions seem to point to it outperforming a 980. But then, I wonder what the next gen NVidia stuff will bring?

I have bought my last Radeon card. I upgraded my last one ,that was supposed to be equal to the 970, to a 970 the difference was huge. Nvidia all the way.

Thats good news, I've been playing ED with everything bar AA in 2560×1080 on an old GTX 460 and I am getting an urge to upgrade.

I know what you mean.

On the other hand, the GTX 960 is WAY more power hungry (= real $$$ & environmental considerations... yes, I know I'm wired) and I hesitate to upgrade until I really have to! Which will be the case as soon as the OR is available. And when this happens, who knows if there is not another, more up-to-date graphic card available or the existing ones are even more affordable?

For now, the game runs quite good at 1600x1200 (4:3... I hear your smirking...!) and the GTX can handel most setting on high.
(And, as I've read, the FS stuttering isn't caused by a too low grafic card anyway. Or isn't this true and it this better with the GTX 960?)

What are the stunning benefits of an upgrade? I've seen that 'ambient occlusion' is not active; I guess this should make quite a difference, if used...

I use a 980 with 3620x2036 DSR and compared to my other system which is running a r290x the extra smoothing on edges is very noticeably better.

I use a 680 in my PC and a 980M in my laptop, both on max settings at 1080

Benefit of the 980M is that it also keeps the room warm without need for heating

Anyone and everyone can set to ultra unless the software has requirements that ghost them... it's not the ultra that is hard to achieve... it's ultra at high res and high FPS that counts. once you have gotten used to using something as powerful as the 980, it's impossible to go downwards, you notice immediately the difference.

Oh how utterly delightful that the peasants can experience a pittance of the power my simply scrumptious overclocked 980's do provide. Bravo, bravo.
