News Frontier 25 - Elite Dangerous Community Activity Complete!

Anyone else concerned that even 1 month through this year we have not heard peep of the next update????

Not really, I used to get concerned then realised that it didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Frontier will announce in their own sweet time, I'm sure there will be some who will make suitable noises at that point.

It is a big game with lots of players and even quite a few people active on the forums so I am sure there will be one or two besides your self that are worried but I am not one of them.

Unless the new update is going to require me to make serious changes to my setup or save lots of money for purchases then a months notice or less is fine.

No. It's disappointing, however. I was guessing the 25th anniversary would have been a great time to spill the beans.

Unfortunately, only paint was spilt!

I think that they've learned from Horizons and its overshot timelines not to reveal content too early. They did say that they would be changing the way new content would be added to the game post Beyond.

No, no really. I don't expect anything until April or maybe May.

I guess you all are ok with it then, at present I find it hard to actually find things to do, I explored a little, blew up a ton of asteroids and pretty much did all that 3.3 had to offer. there was no new things to grind, so after the hype rubbed off I haven't really had the time or reason to go back to Elite, at least until a new update is added.

Trying to participate in a few AXI events, but almost always find myself doing something else on the days. as for casual play I have simply run out of things to do, have all the ships I could ever want, materials to upgrade them, engineers maxed, ALL tech broker items unlocked (even the really useless ones) almost all the Powerplay modules unlocked, triple Elite (and no, I ain't doing scummy CQC as that does not count :D )

I am without purpose, hopefully the next update will carry more fulfilment than just atmospheric worlds alone (the highest bet for this year's content) like things to grind, More dynamic and interactive missions, building a home of sorts (be that a starport or base or whatever) as an endless credit sink...the list goes on with the main intention to have a more purposeful existence in Elite!

With some luck maybe they will work more in the BGS and the Powers but maybe you have already reached a point of... fulfillment? About the things the game has to offer.

I'm not an expert in organizational theory but if FD works as the companies that I've worked for, a certain percentage of the people are probably still busy fixing bugs from 3.3 and trying to optimize the servers and everyday activities, maybe they have learn a lesson or two after the mass concentration of players for DW2. Directors and chiefs should be giving the final touches to the next 12-15 or 18 month planing while a small team of programmers are working in stuff that has not recieved enough attention but it is already somewhat advanced. If they added more people to the team (the famous "100+ developers working") there could be further delays due to the "Brook's law".

To sum it up, by April/May I would expect a patch to modify some basics, polishing of present game mechanics and more bug fixing and MAYBE an announcement about the future.

But of course, this is complete expeculation that I'm getting out of my lower back. But I would suggest to maybe take a time off from Elite if you are really getting tired of it. There are lot of other games to try, at least for a while.
