So ED sales are already at £4m? Or have i totally misunderstood the kickstarter concept here?
Heres a link to the kickstarter when it closed in jan2013 rest has been raised since https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerousI was unaware of the kickstarter so missed the concept and just heard £2.5mil bandied about. Was it £2.5m backing required for FDEV to develop the game, or a minimum of £2.5m?
I only ask as 30k players (at pb and earlier x £100) = £3mil sales
20k player at beta £50 = £1mil

I don't pretend to understand this announcement, but does it mean that in theory Frontier Development could be bought out by say EA, Microsoft or Apple?
For the love of all that is holy please do not sell to EA. I know the huge bucket of money is tempting but they will kill this game.

In theory yes, it is entirely possible for EA or any other company to buy enough shares in fdev to take control. Indeed, they only need buy more than 30% of the shares, and they would automatically be obliged make a bid for the entire company under ukla rules.
However, the reason you don't need to be concerned is this: http://www.frontier.co.uk/investor_relations/shares/
The company is still 56% owned by David Braben. This is still very much his company and it would be impossible for anyone to take control while he retains that kind of position.
Unless of course DB actually wanted to sell to EA, in which case it would be very easy for them to do so once they had DB's %.

How's the stock doing? Anyone made any money off their investment?
about GBP 80K since dec/jan 2014, in theory. obviously illiquid stock is difficult to value. but here for the very long run and trying to get more shares at a better price (around 2,25gbp i wish)
the next interesting date is 4. september with the annual report, and then the first 3 months after gold release. plus obviously news needed on other 3rd party contracts, substantial long term ones pretty please

Looks big improvement over Coaster Crazy, though concept needs better trailer to sell
Nice one^^^
tis so easy to forget that Frontier have other stuff apart from Elite Dangerous, which could come in handy
I have experience in investing stocks, commodities & futures, options etc. But I've never invested anything outside of my country (USA) and I've not a single clue where to get started in the UK, let alone if it's even possible for American citizens to invest in companies online. If anyone has useful information as to where US citizens are able to begin investing in UK companies that would be helpful.
It looks like Fidelity investments will let me buy London Exchange shares with no minimum and pretty reasonable fees. I can't buy any for a few days due to new account verification. I will follow-up with a post when I purchase some shares
EDIT: Using Fidelity.com I was able to purchase shares of FDEV (they refer to the ticker as FDEV:GB). They have no minimum order, the commission is a flat 9 British Pounds per order and the exchange rate from Dollars to Pounds is 1% of the amount exchanged. There is also no annual fee or any other fees for having an account with them. Not too shabby!
