of course not, some 100 sectors no? i didn't remember it quite well, it's a long time ago since i held this in my hands, but of course it's only a snippet.
i would have to confirm this but i guess 65536 (256x256) total sectors in x and y, while sectors reach from -32768 to 32767, that would be the whole map (imagine this more as a sphere or it acts like one, after moving past 32767 you start at -32768). but filled with stars are, hmm this i really don't remember exactly -3200 to 3200 i guess, but i can be wrong.
i would have somewhere a doc where i wrote down all that, because once i calculated or better estimated the centre of the galaxy in FE2.
while the galaxy is NOT centered on the whole "field", i guess it's in the "upper right section" or at least moved out of centre to upper right.
anyway i needed it also to hack me from sector "x,y" to sector "u,v"
internally sector 0x000000,0x000000 is at x -5912, y -5412
in fact there is a maximum of 0xFFFF(+0x1 because 0x0 is a value) (dec.65536) sectors, and I don’t know why sector 0x000000,0x000000 is at -5912, -5412, because the map starts at sector -32768 and ends at sector 32767.
besides, even if i had that map, i rarely used it, it was a help when i started out with FE2, but soon it became "useless".
likewise you stated "Still doing a run between Diso and Leesti" i usually didn't go far in a common gameplay,
to fulfill the military missions, you wil circle always around the same systems, except you have some mining machines hidden in a unexplored system (prevents best from getting robbed, also you get rid of the courier that will await you on your claim often).

erm, if you download my "beginners missions", if they still are available somewhere, there is one prepared savegame ("gethome") in which you start where i estimated the centre, or close to.
(if not and if you think, "hey, i like to know how that looks like" let me know it, ah... i can link it anyway fresh, i guess i uploaded it once to SSC, but with the change of the provider some files got lost, but of course it's still on my machines).
"looks like a bad parked Lynx"...
you can have a lot of fun hacking FE2, and waste endless time with it.

the missions i found on the MAC, but it was all in a bundle together with the needed files to re-enable the "wormhole" bug in FE2, because many of the "beginners missions" you can fulfill only with the "wormhole bug" enabled. you can use them of course with original PC FE2 1.05.
i would still have the bundle on my PC in "Ulisbach" but would have to move it first here on the MAC.
this would be the "missions" alone
http://sdrv.ms/XV7oNy
but like i said i have a bundle, including all nice little tools for FE2 i gathered from the web.
greez to Tomm
