Frontier Foundary - the start of Odyssey?

I've just seen a video of Lemnis Gate - from their new publishing arm Frontier's Foundary - a multiplayer FPS strategy shooter (looks very nice actually).
I can't help but think that this is actually the basis for Odyssey though, because they share the same principles, mechanics and even assets and would most likey use the same in-house tool set to develop.
It's quite a clever approach for a studio to use the same code base and tool chain (which takes a very long time to develop) and create twice the content and twice the revenue.
This is probably why Elite's progress has been so very slow because they have effectively been working on Foundary as the primary project, and Elite Odyssey as the secondary.
Let's hope they integrate the FPS into the game world in a way that adds real value and enriches the whole experience with direct NPC access - ie give orders, career progression, etc.

A nice thought. I remember hoping a similar thing for NPC crowd mechanics in planet coaster and surface visuals and animal modeling in Jurassic world. Seems so long ago now.

PS visually it looks ok and if ED was like it I would have no problem.... But just that game... Personally it doesn't look remotely interesting to me.

Then there's Frontier Pilot Simulator out in the wild also. I always thought this could be a testbed for atmospheric flight and landings.
X.

Just wanted to let you know my 'like' only counts if your post was sarcastic. :p

@OP
As others have said, Frontier is just the publisher. They don't even have access to the source code and that game appears to run on a different engine too. In short, no, this does not influence Odyssey at all.

We need a confirmation of the engine used before we can breath a sigh of relief.
FPS games are two a penny,it’s just the other game(which must not be mentioned)has left me feeling skittish.

Frontier Foundry is a publishing arm of the company not games development.

Leave the crap conspiracy theories to Lightspeed.

Edit: Lemnis games uses UE4 not cobra.
Perhaps but Frontier is everywhere, really everywhere.

I think they are diversified in anticipation of the release of Odyssey. :p

Coming back to OP, it could definitely be the case instead.
FDEV said that they have experienced people working at that aspect of Odyssey so it's possible that part of the agreement as publisher is the possibility to sub-contract part of the legs work for Odyssey to them. That would be a smart move, I would rather prefer this aspect of the game to be developed by experienced people rather than from someone that has just started to look into it.

I think Ratloop Games Canada will have their own development to worry about, without having to squeeze in contract work for fdev.

It doesn't really make sense.
