Everyone who works on a game published by Frontier gets access to the Cobra IV. Fact...
...that I just made up.

Could explain the staff turnover then....Everyone who works on a game published by Frontier gets access to the Cobra IV. Fact..
It does not invalidate my theory because any resource hired by Frontier needs to be trained to the Cobra engine and they said that they have experienced people in the FPS field so those people had to be trained anyway.Plus they would have to familiarize themselves with Cobra.
Thanks for the colorful representation but I don't care that much... I'm just curious
I've just seen a video of Lemnis Gate - from their new publishing arm Frontier's Foundary - a multiplayer FPS strategy shooter (looks very nice actually).
I can't help but think that this is actually the basis for Odyssey though, because they share the same principles, mechanics and even assets and would most likey use the same in-house tool set to develop.
It's quite a clever approach for a studio to use the same code base and tool chain (which takes a very long time to develop) and create twice the content and twice the revenue.
This is probably why Elite's progress has been so very slow because they have effectively been working on Foundary as the primary project, and Elite Odyssey as the secondary.
Let's hope they integrate the FPS into the game world in a way that adds real value and enriches the whole experience with direct NPC access - ie give orders, career progression, etc.
Not made by frontier developments...Then there's Frontier Pilot Simulator out in the wild also. I always thought this could be a testbed for atmospheric flight and landings.
X.
Neither is Lemnis Gate![]()
Yeah, but I don't understand why we can't buy with ARX.Reading this forum, it's a no-brainer for Frontier to get into the popcorn seasoning business.![]()

Perhaps it wasn't considered relevant given it was announced 15 years ago and canned 9 years ago.
How much of that experience has survived until today I wonder.Three pages, and no-one has yet mentioned that FDev have already done some "foundation work for FPS", using the Cobra engine, with their abandoned FPS game The Outsider.
The waiting for it to arrive part, that's transferred well to ED.How much of that experience has survived until today I wonder.
