Frontier have anointed chosen ones again...

I watch CohhCarnage every day, have done since Atlas was released and if I recall (and I'm paraphrasing here) while Cohh likes Elite Dangerous, he's not its biggest fan, and fairly criticises it for its faults.

Don't you wonder why Cohh or Bikeman are not playing Elite Dangerous on stream now? Burke Black is another I watch, and he recently commented on the Odyssey update and how Elite Dangerous had very little to do and Star Citizen had more to do than Elite Dangerous. When I was correcting him, he asked if I knew anything about Elite Dangerous ... so yeah :D

EDIT: If you're wondering why we are mentioning names like Cohh Carnage, Bikeman or Burke Black, they have stream viewers in the thousands

I didn't say Cohh was Elite's biggest fan, i said he is a fan. And being an honest streamer he naturally gives constructive criticism too.

They don't stream Elite regularly because it's a niche game, while they are mainstream variety streamers.

Burke is more of a fan of SC because he's a roleplayer and it already has FPS, clothes shopping, and bartenders

Yep, completely agree, and I consider myself corrected.

As to the "goodies" received, it was a well put together pack by Frontier (yes they sent me one, and I will talk about it in a video). Not sure what I will do with the pack yet though, I've taken the lid off the box and looked inside, but that's as far is it got.

The "content creators program" that Frontier have set up, isn't entirely anything unusual. It's a case of Frontier giving out information to video makers / streamers, so that these people have accurate info. Exactly the same as Frontier do for the gaming press (Eurogamer, PCGamer etc - (in fact those guys actually get more info)).

I've joined the program, but under the condition that I will continue to make videos with my own opinion which will be both positive and negative towards the game. There's a lot of things I like about Elite, and a lot I don't like. There's a lot of things I like about how Frontier develop the game, and there's a lot of areas where they make very stupid mistakes. I've pointed those things out, and will continue to do so. I've always been clear about that. And I've never claimed to be unbiased. I do try to be balanced and reasonable though.

I've spoken to Frontier about all of this before even joining - making all of that very clear. Because if that wasn't acceptable to them, then I wouldn't be in. Frontier have zero control over the content produced by people involved in this program, and there isn't even any requirements to actually even bother making any content. Mostly, it's a case of passing on information, and improving communications. And yes, Frontier gain PR from that - which is a large part of why they are doing it.

For me though, it's about getting more info, so that I can share it. It will help with video production times, just the same as when Eurogamer (or which ever other website) get early info helps them write articles on time. Frontier are far from the only company doing this.

For me, it really is as simple as that. :)

Rheeney has requested that the word "shill" be used in this thread so I'd just like to say that they're all Frontier "shills" not to be trusted!

Especially Rheeney and Buur, they're the worst!

/s

;)

I don't think anyone cares about shills. As far as im aware there aren't any in the content creator community for elite? We don't have that problem.

Start a thread about dd and you might have more luck there :p

EDIT: Having said, if frontier are going for the rent a crowd marketing approach maybe in the future?

Do people actually listen to people who hate on content providers for no good reason? Some of these "influencers" provide a wonderful service to the community. Not all of them, mind you, but some (OA and Burr for example). Judge each according to their merits, not your own jealousy of anyone who has a Youtube channel. 🤷
You are welcome to your opinion on influencers. I see it for myself, or hear it from someone I trust. Somebody with a Youtube channel, as a general rule, is not that person. It's cool if you see merit in their content, there may actually be some, I don't know. I just assume it's for the clicks and take what is said as being "for entertainment only", and move along for the most part, same as almost everything else on that platform. Not sure where your assumptions of hate or jealousy come from, but you are welcome to those opinions as well.

But why dont they just give out the information to everyone so I can continue to ignore the 'influencers'? Nothing against you, but I'd prefer to cut the middle man and form my own opinion on the information itself. It's also way better for me to just read a paragraph and some bullet points in 30s as opposed to watching an 8 minute YouTube vid where the same info is stretched out and padded with generic shots of asps flying in front of things.

You might have a personal code you live by and Frontier have to accept that but im curious as to whether the smaller streamers they're recruiting will be as equally impartial when Frontier is throwing Elgato Stream Decks their way.
Well the smaller ones (as such) aren't being recruited, they already are Elite players.

There's a difference between a large variety stream being persuaded to play a game they wouldn't otherwise play, and a small channel who only play invariably one game they already love. It's the only reason they play it.
