Frontier have you played your game yourself?

Had the same experience in RES. Have some Engineer stuff with me but wanted to do the BH CG only to realize that it's impossible to survive in a RES carrying Engineer stuff no matter how many they are. All i could see was red dots on my scanner, at some point i think about 8 - 10 ships were shooting at me. Good thing the Anaconda (which i use mostly for hauling stuff and the one im modding) has good enough shields and hull to let me low wake away.

No different to any other cargo excluding limpets. I mean, you fly into a specific instance which is there purely to spawn npc pirates with cargo in your hold and are then surprised that they try to kill you? It's not Farmerama.

I would think, from the perspective of a spaceship pilot, one would be excited to head to the engineer immediately when you find a "Rare" thing rather than trying to "grind" for a bunch of "Rare" materials. I also think that people have some kind of expectation that they deserve to have everything. One of the people I have discussed this complaint with was actually self-righteous in their insane desire to own every ship in the game min-maxed to the nines. They believed that was a legitimate complaint that they couldn't have it all with a lot of "tedious grind" and that Frontier should bend over backwards to provide for what is clearly a mental defect.

They do it to themselves and then try as hard as they might to make the rest of us suffer along with them in their self-imposed hells.

*without a lot of...

No offence but your getting pritty high and mighty calling someone who wants to experience all the content a game is offering, someone with a mental defect?

Sorry buddy but that's just offensive and wrong.

You never met anyone who played any game that has a 100% completion achievement?

Eventually I'd expect to own all the ships in this game. I have not intention to engi grind all of them but so what if I do.

Does that make me mentally defective?

In all honesty, it's blatantly obvious Frontier doesn't play their own game, and if they do, they do not play it as their customer plays it. In modern marketing, you should be trying to sell what the customer wants, not what you want. Frontier is selling what David Braben wants in a lot of ways.

If you made your millions by becoming a Sothis <Ahem>lord, repeatedly hauling countless tons of poop across the vastness of space, and/or used metagame tools to figure out the most profit per hour trade loop to buy the high-tier ships, you can't legitimately claim to want to experience all of the game's content. You circumvented the game, skipped all of the content, and now you are confused as to why it was boring and grindy. If you follow the path of the "efficient" powergamer and when you run into a steep climb, turn to whining at the devs to change things so you can progress more, faster, easier because having +5% DPS is FUN then, yes you are also mentally deficient.

I don't agree, when the game was in beta and when it first came out it was easy to see that David was the architect.

Fast forward two years and there's lots of "fluff" that has been added that doesn't feel like a David Braben Elite Game.

Engineers with op weapons, power play, CQC arena - I dont see that coming from the mind of DBOBE when you look back at the other elite games. It feels more like it's come from Sandro and Michael, not saying it's making the game bad, it's just not feeling like Elite anymore... To me anyway.

These things come from one or more minds unprepared for the job. But he must give his blessing.

In my opinion, the whole magical effects random roulette wheel charm is bollixed.

It should be...

Incendiary rounds level 1
Incendiary rounds level 2
... level 5

Just like we now have

Rapid fire level 1
Rapid fire level 2
... level 5

The special magic effect should be the target of the upgrade with things like firing speed being secondary.

It's total nonsense that an "experimental effect" like heat cooling vent lasers (fuzziks schmuzzics) are tacked on at the last minute. They are so fundamentally different to the base weapon that it makes sense that they should be the primary purpose of the upgrade.

I think weapons special effects should simply be removed from the game.

They where designed to be extremely rare, but with "get your special effect for just 2 reputation ranks" it's just a matter of grind. They became standard and close to mandatory.

FD doesn't understand the min/max mentality.

try exploration at least its varied and always new

Exploration is just a slot machine in space. Pull the handle each time you enter a system and watch it spin the planets to see what roll you get.

To me, that's an abhoration of exploration. Hopefully, they'll add in something meaningful other than .jpeg's in space (of which we've all seen before). Season 3 should be nothing but Exploration imo. It should all be about filling the galaxy with stuff to actually explore, including making all planets landable (or getting you crushed via massive G-forces LOL ;))

Or they should be a considered & balanced addition such as via a Utilit Point etc... Configurable to be used with which ever weapon you want etc.

They could never really be classed as rare since almost every NPC you face has some sort of mod or special module/weapon fitted since Engineers launched.

Well, last time DB played a game and was 'surprised' how bad missions are - we've got a huge boost to missions.

Would be great if he'd play a game again, tried some passengers, engineers, missions, trading, exploration, powerplay ...

LOL!! And piracy!

EDIT: Actually I remember in a livestream where someone posed the question to DB, "When will Piracy get improved?" And his response - which worried me - seemed to be along the lines of, "What else is there to do?" I'm hoping I misunderstood. Awaiting evidence accordingly.
