Frontier Needs Money (new Dev Update from Michael).

The first paid expansion date was not a promise, it was an estimate, just like the retail release date.

They ended up (from memory) releasing 9 months after estimated release date and I think we all agree, it was really still released earlier than it should have been. Right until the last few days of gamma, people were still saying, 'well they are obviously saving a lot of surprises for release' :D

Until we get an official answer, I'm assuming that we should at LEAST double the original estimate, maybe a lot more....
You're right, it was an estimation, not a promise, and without any official word from Frontier on the expansions, we should hold on to that "one year after release" that David mentioned, and not speculate on any other timeline until that one year has come and gone.
 
And it was mission *system* overhaul. It was put as foundation so we can have a more complex and interesting missions later on.

I hope you are right. But for a mission system overhaul I would expect that also wings should be able to accept missions....

Yeah no, no offence guys but i dont feel like i got enough game for the money i already spent to buy the game. Definitely not gonna throw in money into an empty pit.
 
For me, and I am a learner in a Python,
They have not proved they can manage the odds and sods they have already produced, I have already seen plenty of evidence that the Programmers probably do not even understand the game.
i.e. Experienced players having to destroy there own ships due to the recent Integrity debacle.
and much much more. I have been travelling all over the place and am sick of not easily accepting something on the Galaxy Map with mouse or Track Ball.
Every time I go through any letter box in my previous ASP or current Python The Alarms for Proximity +++ and collision warning drives me nuts.
We could all go on and on - where are my tissues?
 
I hope that's just a badly worded comment and you aren't really so arrogant as to believe you have any right to "tell" Frontier to do anything. We as customers can express what we'd like to see, I have said many times, I'd like every paintjob for every ship ... but I'm not "telling" Frontier to do it.
You don't need any special right to tell anybody anything you want. You just can't order them, if you're not one of their VC's. The only reason SWTOR is still around is because they got an absolutely massive circus of a cosmetic items store happening. Some of it is a bit distasteful, but they dug in and made it happen like their life depended on it. And VC's breathing down their necks probably helped................... If I was one of FD's VC's, I'd ask them what the crew responsible for the store has been doing with their time. Clothing and hats are fairly bad, cause there's manufacturing costs, physical shipping, returns and potential unsold stock. Virtual items are way better business and the paint jobs are mostly so-so and they can't even get their colors right, like cobalt blue and crimson red has nothing to do with the so-named paint jobs. These two colors are named by the materials used to make the pigment, so its not a matter of interpretation.

So you agree that its an estimate and not actually a promise but believe the best thing to do is not examine Frontier's recent history with release dates but instead just 'hold on to' an estimate given 2+ years ago during the Kickstarter campaign?

I gave my support! Bought the full PC version via Steam and quite happily bought the XBox One version as well. Linked both versions onto my Frontier account. Am now ready to order Saitek X52 from Amazon, but would just as happily ordered it from the Frontier Store as an additional revenue stream for them. Just as an afterthought, why not develop a "paint shop" where new paint jobs and decals can be ordered for a small fee each time, or let the user purchase a download link to apply their own skins etc?
 
im all for development. i have arena for pc (my rig wont cope with full game) and have played hundreds of hours on xbox. just bought first paint job after getting back to the bubble with enogh creds for a python

BUT

as i didnt frequent the forums. and as there was nothing in the news letter about the AI problem. ive lost everything. my python was taken out in 6 seconds by a gunship. quicker than i could turn.

now im looking at grinding from sidewinder again? blow that. ive sent tickets for help as this is not just me being an awfull flyer (im not the best) but a frountier *up . i was looking forward to getting horizons but this is awfull and might see me quit.

But, frontier will refund your in game account if your losses were related to the recent bug in 2.1. So just wait to hear back from them ;)

Bit of a Catch 22 situation here.

Need to make the game truly great, by having the money and "time" e.g. to maybe add missions to engineers requirements for rep. gain, to attract new customers.

Need new customers, to get the money and "time" to make the game a rich deep experience.


Hmmm, time for Frontier to invest in the game?
 
Why not look to putting adverts on the space stations. We already have them as you fly into the letterbox so why not look to have genuine companies pay to have there add there

I'd prefer that they sell credits, personally. I don't want to be docking at a space port in 3300 to be greeted by adverts for car insurance or some other temporal incongruity.

For a second there I honestly thought that Frontier was having economic troubles !

The last thing I wish is for them to turn the lights off !

E: D is by far one of the best, if not the best, game I've ever played.

And believe me, I've been a gamer ever since the Atari was released, I know what I'm talking about !

They deserve to keep going for many, many years !
