Ganking is destroying Elite. Players quit in frustration after all their exploration data is lost or they are sent back to a Sidewinder because a ganker was "just having fun".
Solution is simple.
Make the game modes just "SOLO" and "Private Group" because this will permanently end ganking. Players can still play with friends for PvP but the toxic ganking culture will be wiped out. If players try ganking inside a Private Group they can be expelled immediately.
No more blocking required
Chat is restricted to inside the Private Group only so no more external harassment from the toxic gankers.
This is easy to do.
That's just not true, with small or medium ships a fully engineered Fer de Lance will blow you up to smithereens before you ever have time to high jump, let alone if it's not one but a ganker wing. I have been hearing this argument again and again from gankers and, after more than 5 years of playing Elite and watching all the gankers videos on how to survive, I can only conclude that it's nothing more than a very convenient excuse to keep griefing and shift the blame into the ones that just started the game.![]()

ehr..
By the way, Open is just fine, gankers are a myth for many, an annoyance for those that do not even bother to learn how to fly and outfit their ships.

Question Does any know about different platforms? Like the pc and Xbox? Oh and to top it all off did you know, Odyssey and Horizon player will not meet?

What's the next suggestion get rid of pc? (since they could be in open)
Oh and space is big, more than 1 location to do things...

As we already have Solo and PG for this, not necessary.
However, I've heard that newbies nowadays are tossed headfirst into Open when they first log on (in the starter zone, but Open nonetheless). This does seem odd. Though presumably they could immediately log out and then return in Solo.

So you are in the 55 million credits fastest ship in the game and you survived. Count me surprised. Now try the same thing in a Sidewinder, an Adder or a Hauler against a wing of FdL packing corrosive multicannons and engineered lasers. Let's see how much the flying matters.Really?
Not later than yesterday i got interdicted by a wing of 3 in the current CG System. The interdicting ship was a Phantom.... i was in a Mamba and he shot TORPEDOS (still laughing hard at it) at me... i just minded my business and carried on with my flight, leaving the instance with over 98% of shield despite their poor attempt.
Most of the kills from gankers are caused by cmdrs panicking or flying glass ships for the sake of maximizing stats like jump range / cargo hold capacity.
Those guys are out there for the big game, i assume, are bored to death so they get some sort of relief from the salt of the cmdrs that come crying on the forum about Open, whatever, they are not a threat especially on a small or medium ship properly fitted and competently flown.
If anything, Open is one of the thing that keeps this game alive.

I remember the time I took my sidey to Wyrd and some guy in a corvette tried to chase me down.So you are in the 55 million credits fastest ship in the game and you survived. Count me surprised. I see your point but I dont share it and that is ok. I was just replying to the Cmdr saying that with the right procedure and skillful flying you will survive a gank with any ship which is, according to my experience, not true at all.If the newbie is playing in Open and knows the risks, I'd commend him/her for their bravery instead of condemn gankers for doing what they are allowed to do in Open. Is it unsporting to club seals? Yes, but if you're a seal you don't have to present your head to a club by playing in Open.
I just don't get where these horror stories comes from. I play in Open all the time and outside of CGs I almost never see anyone get murdered.
