Frontier trying to create features for everyone instead of designed for specific player groups. Do you think it is a good idea?

When you get a 27TB hard drive (my best conservative guess) just to store the galactic star info, that may be possible. Of course, how you run a BGS in offline mode is a teeny little issue you'll need to address first.

I don't think anybody is talking about ED as it currently is, but stand alone and offline.

You wouldn't get 400 billion stars to explore.
You wouldn't have a living, breathing economy (as primitive as it might be right now).
You wouldn't have anything like Powerplay.

In fact, all you'd really get is Freelancer with pretty graphics.

Who the hell actually WANTS 400bn stars to explore?! You'll never see them all.

I'd rather have 100 star systems where the game actually worked and where bugs and malfunctions were fixed.

Much as I love ED - and I spend hours every day playing it - it does seem that FD have a gift for introducing features that look good and then are ruined by miserably poor implentation. RNgineers for example, PP for another.

The biggest problem with ED is that Sammarco cannot admit when he gets an idea wrong. To do so takes courage and humility.

Maybe, just maybe, it's time for a new lead designer.

Quite.

Not true. He has admitted that he wishes he could do powerplay over again. But doesn't have the time and resources.
It's not a development dictatorship where he's 100% in charge of all decisions, and he doesn't have unlimited resources.
While I'll agree that there's been some crummy, poorly implemented ideas. To blame it all solely on Sandro is simply unfair.

Last news was that there will be no NPC crew in 2.3. They might add it later, just like they could add NPC wings later. I don't get my hopes until I see an official announcement.

And as someone who flies on his own, this is my greatest fear with the multi-crew update... I don't have friends who play ED, I fit sessions in at odd times around real life and can't guarantee being on at any given time, all of which add up to a disaster if they make big ships multi-crew and then don't allow NPC crew. The solo flyer like me will be at an instant disadvantage.

And before anyone buries me under a mountain of salt, I know FD have been keeping multi-crew close to their chest, and no-one knows how the hell it will work, but if there is no inherent advantage in flying the bigger ships mutli-crew, why would you want to do it?
What does the guy running the weapons console do whilst you are mission running simply shipping Biowaste around?

It's bad enough being a lone player and getting interdicted by a wing, or jumped by a wing in a RES, but if you add into that mix being out gunned because the Annie you're fighting has separate pilot, gunner and shield operator and you're trying to handle all 3 positions on your own, then I forsee an exodus to Solo mode or Private groups.

I do not think that creating content solely for the MP community is a wise move.

Instead, create it for SOLO with the ability to be used in (MP)OPEN. Think backwards compatibility.

Sure you cant take a wing mission in solo but it will be much harder since its designed for MP. But in the end I really dont care as long as they keep updating and growing the game.

I think designing content independently for single and multiplayer will produce more advanced, deep gameplay.
