What a massive slap in the face of both those who decided to go with the rift and those who forked out for a season pass with no content for half the season.

I am done with frontier, they wont be getting any more money from me, they havent been able to live up to their promises and the game is broken. This season pass crap was just a fast cash grab with very very little up front content available. Given what is available to base game content in the upcoming patches, there seems to be very little reason to go beyond the purchase of the base game.

We deserve better than this FD.

I'm not a fan of doom and gloom posts, but 15th Dec 2015 for Horizons release... first update after release has been pushed back to June. That's 6 months with no update for this "season". It also means they only have 6 months left to push out all the content promised for Horizons which seems unlikely.

Now the Rift won't be working with the game until at the earliest June as well. That's quite the sting to many players I'm sure.

At the very least it's worrisome to me since players have no incentive to pay full price for seasons currently. Getting the bare-bones season starter for the max price versus waiting 6 months+ after and getting more content for less.

If that trend continues we won't make it to season 5 let alone 10.

Yeah I would be surprised if they pushed season 2 release date back, which means the same issues that we have now with content and game are going to happen again with the next expansion. The fact that the game was sold as a season pass but billed to shareholders as pre release is very misleading conduct by FD. by the looks, you will get more out of a season pass for fallout 4 for about 1/4 of the price.

This game does not represent good value.

Longer time spent on the update, yeah, lets complain about the taking time to fix stuff before it's released instead of after like they have been, which leads to constant whine threads about broken stuff.

Threads about how long we have wait are so much better....

there are 90 known issues as of right now and none of them are going to be fixed before June. This should have been fixed prior to Horizons not being released, not 6 months afterwards.

I'm not complaining or whining for the record :)

I didn't purchase Horizons and don't think I will. I'm happy with the base game and it was totally worth the $.

I can however empathize with some that would be upset about all of these things.

I thought players were currently using the dk version of the oculus to play ED now, so how can the release model not be compatible? I'm currently saving for a powerful pc and a rift and really hoping this game delivers on that front :/

Let's imagine a hypothetical situation ...

You and a friend in school do something that no-one else in the world is doing, and you manage to make a lot of money from it. You then turn that into a career, and along the way, fall out with your (now former) friend. You set up a business. For two decades it does OK, not brilliant, but OK and you become a millionaire based on your first success from when you were in school.

Then, like I said it's two decades since you left school, and now finally technology is able to do what you envisioned originally. You and your business is not experienced enough, but you make the leap of faith to expand your business risking everything you and everything the 400+ people you employ have. You're trying to make a world-class product while at the same time learning how to make a world-class product. There is no-one to tell you how to do what you do, because you are pretty much re-writing the book on how to do it.

Then you have 1.5 million customers most of whom are either happy with what you're doing or have walked away and are not saying anything, but a small minority are very vocal in their displeasure, arguably they are right to complain. Maybe it bothers you, maybe it doesn't .... What do you do now?

Congratulations, you're David Braben.

Kudos to D.B. but what happens if the 1 season a year thing turns into 1 season every 2 years? Which is the pace it's going currently. Actually maybe closer to 1 season every 3 years. He might have broken the mold in your eyes but to me lots of games go down this road and a lot of them fail. I for sure do not want that to happen here, I love this game.

What I'm hearing is: "I'm angry they pushed an update that had bugs." and "I'm angry they are delaying updates so they can get all the stuff to work."...sounds to me like you just want to be angry and there is no possible way for any developer to win. It's okay, you don't have to come up with a bunch of convoluted, contradictory pretenses. You can be angry for no reason at all, no need to pollute a forum with this nonsense justification.

Lets wait and see if there is any other delays hmmmm? One data point is not a trend.

Totally agree but with only half of the total time frame left it's daunting.

People are already using Oculus with Elite, no?

Not the full release version that is being shipped this week. Which will not work with E D until June at the earliest.

90 known issues that wont be fixed before june, its not necessarily the next update that is broken, its this one. Horizons should have been delayed.

Yes, I use 0.5 SDK, others use steam VR. CV1 should work fine with 0.8 and steam VR, Vive should have no issues at all. It's not ideal but I think most VR users knew that the CV1 wouldn't be supported on release. Devs pre warned early Jan, hense why I went the Vive route.

I ordered Vive, anyway I don't plan to do the full switch to the CV1 & Vive until the Pascal cards are out, am fine with the DK2 and supersampling with graphics on ultra. Pretty sure my 980TI won't be able to run either HMD with everything on Ultra

CV1 isnt compatable with any runtime lower than .8, the higher resolutions simply arent taken into account for or optimised for devices beyond the dk2 for those runtimes. Recent changes in steam VR have meant that you will lose about 20 FPS using that instead of the .5/.6 SDK, effectively meaning low persistance is not possible using steam VR for most users (I have a gtx 980 and i cant get to 90 frames through steam VR anymore)

Yep, FD just screwed the pooch again. Guess I'll be playing That Other Space Game sooner than I thought (My oculus should be shipping soon!)
