Frontier, You owe the user base an explanation on the CODEX database.

Why are you being disingenuous?

In the second thread you linked Ed posted 17hr ago:

Apologies, I believe I could have been clearer here:

- the archive section of the codex, which is where audio logs (such as generation ship logs) should be historical
- the galactic regions section will not be, nor was ever planned to be

Thanks!

Ed

Check your reading comprehension.

At last, someone else heard them say it.

I heard one of the Adam's responding to the question saying basically ' yes, your historical data would be included in the Codex, but he wasn't certain how far back this data would go'

Looks like it only went back to 4.59pm yesterday!!!

Disingenuousness aside, are the systems I discovered in my codex at lauch? No?

That's a major problem.

Question arising from that... When someone else happens across MY discovery, will it be added to MY codex at that time? Or do I personally have to revisit (or worse rescan) that system, to add it to my discoveries?

I never got the impression that the codex would be filled with previous findings. Only audio logs and session logs to a degree. That's it. Please link a source to your claims they said this 'over and over' because I certainly don't remember it this way.

here is the live stream @ 1:24
Adam Woods states..."Things you have Discovered before chapter 4 will be in there also"

During the Stream this was asked several times in the chat and the answer was yes!

Thank you Frontier for giving a codex for my discoveries.

Shame that it doesn't include back-history but I appreciate that sometimes previous intentions (your previous discoveries will show) make way for reality (it is too difficult to upload 5 years worth of backdata for the entire userbase, on the off-chance that they will want to know what they did in once upon a time, and the codex is therefore considered day zero from the launch of 3.3).

What would people prefer from a free update? No codex at all?

Than one that was illogical and broken, DEFINITELY.

It just doesn't seem to work correctly either, I went back to a pair of ELW's I found ages ago and mapped them, have been back to the bubble and handed the data in, no sign of them in the Codex whatsoever now even though one of them was showing there when I was making my way back.

Edit: No wait, I'm being silly, it was in a different region lol...

Kinda bummed last night to see that none of my 100+ Visitor Beacon scan were in the Codex. However I *did* find a few of my old scans of things like Generation Ships, and surface bases, all with playable audio-logs (IIRC).

Wish that all my stuff could be in there, though. Could be that doing things like scanning a Visitor Beacon never was actually logged in any persistent way. Even the messages from them time-out, so maybe likewise with the record of the scan ever happening.

System scans though, certainly some record is kept. Makes me wonder whether my system scan records aren't part of my CMDR profile, but instead are a disconnected piece of data on Frontier's server side of things. Would make sense, as wiping a CMDR save doesn't wipe the system scan records and tags.

If they can patch them (and chances are they can) it would require cross referencing established discovery dates and times with anything that has changed in terms of discovery since 3.3 launched, correcting anything old that has changed since, and uploading everything to the Codex. And doing that for every single account. For players to need to go back and FSS everything again would be a shame and a waste for those who are concerned about these things.

Personally I hope that I can use this opportunity to resolve a longstanding problem with planets that actually went missing on my system map and nav panel during the first leg of Distant Worlds because of problems with wing exploration.

let's get something straight.. Sick of seeing this! This is not a free update! It's an update to fix and add things that should have been added years ago!! Mr Braben himself stated from the outset that this year was about going back and fixing the things that slipped by. The product was already paid for on the understanding that updates would happen to bring it all together.

So please, quit with the falsity that it is a free update. It's bringing what we were promised to the table. Just a few years late!

As for the Codex; There is absolutely no reason that prior/previous data cannot be added, unless whomever designed it, designed it in such a way as to be non-compatible. As it is, without prior/previous data, the Codex is meaningless.

Oh look ! A Codex! With half of the data! How good is that?!?!
