I took the opportunity of the summer sales to give this a go.
I d recommend it highly, especially for those of you who enjoy city management solo games. I am not a fan of sim cities and the like (although I am a big time Civ fan) so I was a bit reluctant at first but I am happy to report that Frostpunk is cool and good and fully achieves that Civ urge for "just one more turn".
The roleplay elements are also great as they allow you to reflect them fully in game through your "law" and "technology" choices. In my case I chose a ruthless, no faith or religion, technology/purpose driven, "survival of the fittest" society including radical medical interventions, personal duels to solve disputes among colonists and "1984" style propaganda machinery and law enforcement to maintain hope and moral. You end up really caring about your frozen colony little men.
The key to enjoy it I think is to let the game take you to the edge of extinction without scum saving too often. Some of the magic of the game goes through actual on the edge situations and events and how you can come back (or not
) from those. Here really "what does not kill you, makes you stronger".

I like the idea, and the price is not that high, $29 and man that intro trailer and I was hooked.....
Purchased, the Lysan Iron fist will rule forever.......

Oh boy this game is actually hard!! I'm just losing all the F@ing time!! but the game is very good I love the details
trails in the snow, really good, this is actually very fun to watch, I sorry to say this but the details are way better than JPE and I also enjoy playing that one, but now i'm going to send the kids to the coal mines....
