FSD Interdictor and his evil side

So you have every bounty hunter or conflict zone player flying a Viper or a Cobra for the rest of his life since all future ships are too costly to maintain. Eliminating all possible progression (after upgrading to A gear) in the game.

If you dont think that that is bad game design then im afraid you dont know much about how to make games and how to keep players playing them.

I'm no game designer, I do -not- need to know how to make games. This game has progression, to an extent. To - an - extent. This has no end-game. And yes, if your alleged "progression" ends with you sitting in a Cobra, that being the best for your job, then that's it. Period.

Come on, taking hull when you bounty hunt is a needless mechanic that adds nothing to the game. Suggesting that mechanic alone is important enough to warrant limiting ship options makes no sense to me. It's dumb and I hope they simply remove it.

You're trolling right?

Please be trolling.

Agree, this is nonsensical. IMO no damage should occur to either party on interdiction. I don't see what the gameplay benefit is in having hull damage on an interdiction. I got interdicted by the feds, couldn't escape, took hull damage, they scanned me, then left. Equivalent to a police officer stopping me, smashing my tail light, then telling me I need to fix my tail light!

It's either great minds think alike... or... you forgot to quote me... Although I appreciate that you used one of my analogies. :D

So you're saying it's unreasonable for bounty hunters to expect to be able to fly something that isn't a viper or cobra.

Get out.

I fly a Python and do trading. While in super cruise I sometimes see a tasty bounty on ships and temporarily become a bounty hunter. Credits are credits. I fly that ship because it can haul a lot of goods and has teeth when they are needed.

This whole thread is kind of dumb. Use the right tool for the job. If that tool happens to be a Viper. Then use it. There is absolutely no reason every ship should be able to be best at every task. Just because it's bigger and more expensive doesn't make it better for what you want to do. If you want to use big expensive ships to do the job of smaller ships. That is your choice. But, don't berate people when they point it out.

I don't know how to make games. If I did, I'd be making them and gutting people of their money and not talking to them on forums. Duh.

Never used interdiction but is it possible for the interdicting party to slow down to a safe speed and then interdict? Otherwise, not having the damage to the hull upon interdiction would conflict with the logic whereby you would take some damage if you jump out of SC prematurely.
