Fss not working

I'm new to Elite Dangerous and I wanted to start mining for low temp diamonds so I found a system with some. When I reached it I tried using the fss but it wont even open up. I've tried looking for videos and I've tried redoing my keybinds. Can someone help me.

Apart from your keybind, you need to ensure it's enabled/mapped in a firegroup, much the same as your weapons.
You then need to be in 'Analysis' mode.

"Enter FSS Mode" is found under the Mode Switches part of the controls (Exit FSS is under the FSS section, go figure).

If you want to find LTD hotspots you need to have fitted and use a Detailed Surface Scanner (DSS) - you use that for fire probes (using a fire-button) to map the rings (used to map planets too). Controls assigned in the Detailed Surface Scanner section of the Options \ Controls page.

As far as I can remember, the FSS is bound to [ ' ] by default, so you should try that. Also, as was said previously, you can't find hotspots on the rings of a planet without a Detailed Surface Scanner (DSS), but they aren't too expensive. What are you trying to get with the diamonds?
