FSS vs. ADS – and Alternative or Additional Options for Compelling Gameplay

Loss of functionality requires removed functionality, with the FSS you have added functionality plus everything the ADS ever did.

Refusing to use it, which is what we have here is something else entirely.

The functionality to add an unexplored body to the Nav Panel and System Map without simultaneously performing a level 3 scan on it has been removed.

As for refusing to use it - well I didn't ask for an overpowered easy-mode scanner.

Takes about three goes, not hundreds. More or less depending on how soon your sample includes a system with 50+ bodies.
Sorry, with "the whole system scanning gameplay is not nearly fun enough to do hundreds and thousands of times." I meant having to do the mini-game to completion in hundreds and thousands of systems.

You had to use the ADS to populate the system map, now you have to use the FSS to do the same thing. No loss only gains.

Still proof by assertion, repeating the same thing won't make it true Stigbob.

I'd say it was the lack of functionality that was removed in the upgrade.
And that would be your subjective opinion (which is fine) ;)

There was no need to remove the old modules. Their ongoing presence in the game would have had no downside, whereas removing them does have a downside. They just need to be put back in to correct that oversight. It's really simple to understand.

"oversight" lol.

If they were to put it back in the only way to do it without making players out in the black return&refit would be by adding its functionality as part of the FSS as a standard bit of ship equipment everyone gets automatically, which they already did so no need.

Its a solution looking for a problem and failing.

So you're saying they should have corrected the oversight as soon as possible? I agree :) Mistakes happen, no plan is perfect. It just needs to be fixed by adding the modules back into outfitting. How explorers far from port deal with that is secondary to putting them back into the game.

No, you just made all that up.

Read again what I posted:

I've highlighted the important part, since you seem to keep missing it.

'Functionality' is not just about results, it's also about the process, and from a gameplay perspective the process is the important part. If FDev were to replace the FSS with a module that automatically performed all level 3 scans and mapped all planets immediately on entering a system then FUNCTIONALITY would be removed, even though the RESULTS would be identical.

Refusing to do something isn't the same as not having something.

That's true, but irrelevant.

The ability to register a body (so that it shows up in the Nav Panel and System Map) without simultaneously performing a level 3 scan on that body, has been removed.

This is a fact, whether you care about it or not.

Its hardly irrelevant if you want something added to the game because you claim you lack specific functionality you also agree you already have. This is PEBCAK in its purest form.

TLDR : Don't wanna

They should not have been removed without justification Stigbob, it's a really simple concept to grasp. This long after launch it would require very good justification indeed to change the game in a way that is detrimental to anyone. Given the topic is intended to be about comparing & contrasting how about you extol the virtues of the new features introduced in 3.3? I'd be interested to read a few of your exploration exploits, ways in which the new features really made a difference to your enjoyment of the game.

Its FDEV's game if they want to remove a placeholder and pop in something much better that's very popular with actual players then they can.

I'm not claiming to lack functionality I already have. I'm stating that I lack functionality I DON'T have. I've explained this repeatedly, so clearly the problem is at your end, not mine.
