Newcomer / Intro Fuel scope on Sidewider

Good evening!

So after having gotten myself some cash (yeah yeah I know the Fuel Scope's cheap anyways) I'm trying to equip exact said object of desire. Just that it looks like I have to drop one of the default internals from the Sidewinder- trading a scanner, or a shield generator, for a fuel scope doesn't seem to be too clever methinks.

Am I getting this wrong, or is it a matter of taste (drop 'em shields, get better armour and a fuel scope if you are trading, for example)?

It all depends on what you want to do.

For example. Exploring? Why have that Cargo Hold, it just adds weight. Shields, non-negotiable when exploring.

Trading only? No point in having a discovery scanner, but then, no real reason to have a fuel scoop as you are going from station to station.
 
The Sidewinder is a good jack of all trades to start out, but it has some limitations as you've just found out. You can customize it to be pretty good at one role, but then it isn't quite as good at other things.
 
I have both on my surrender. I'm a little short on power but it can be done. I'm not even sure what I did. I think I bought a wall that housed discovery scanner and it just popped in. I never sold anything.

I'd post a screen shot but I'm not sure of how to take one, I'm guessing prtscrn. I don't know how to post them here.

Having both are important while exploring. It is possible to run out of fuel and the only source is a star.
