Fully Controllable Avatar

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, but thought I just wanted to get this idea/suggestion out there.

I think a really cool way to be able to fully appreciate parks (both your own and other's), would be for there to be a way to be a guest in those parks. I'm thinking this could be like that you have your own avatar (perhaps fully customizable in terms of looks and clothes?), which is fully controllable. I know we have the option to view the coasters and park from the perspective of a peep, but I want to be able to do everything "manually", and do it with said avatar. That means, walking around the park, going on coasters and attractions etc. all by yourself. I imagine it would be so that you control the avatar either with the mouse and mouse clicks, and/or with the WASD buttons. Other than going around and going on coasters/attractions, you should also be able to control where the avatar looks during rides, maybe even also how he/she express feelings and reactions. All of this "mode" should be possible both in a fixed third person perspective, the "normal" overhead view you play the game with, and finally also in first person.

I know it sounds quite deep, but it would really create another kind of depth to the game, where you aren't just creating theme parks, but also visiting- and enjoying them as a guest. What do you think? [happy]

With the whole "going on other peoples parks" online features, I think that something like the idea above will be pretty popular as we move forwards.

Maybe not making a custom character, but at least having the ability to control your camera on FP view. Right now, the alpha has the ability to "enter" a guests body, and move his head around. The only thing missing in functionality are basic FP movement code.

So I think that although Frontier has not confirmed anything yet (to the contrary, they have indirectly hinted that they are not planning for this), it may well happen.

A suggestion. Always look at the sticky at the top of the page before making a new thread. It helps will keeping this subforum more focused.

For this particular feature.

Thanks for the redirect, and I will remember that!

When I first saw the game, I immediately knew that being able to control an avatar (especially in first person with a vr helmet) would make it perfect! How do we get the developers to see this? Because the need to!

I'd love a controllable first person view... One that stays on level with the paths, ect. Like a park guest. It would be great for videos.. For youtube or something.

As for the actual "be a guest..." I'm not sure how fun that would be... Waiting in long lines to ride a virtual ride.. I mean. If you're into that. I like the peep cam, and I'd love a controllable FP view. But to be an actual guest would be... I dunno. In my own personal opinion, a little boring!

With a controllable FP view, you could kind of pretend to be a park guest. If you wanted to. But I do think it'd be kind of boring to actually be a real guest.

Yes first person cam is current "underconstruction" and will be improved and expanded upon by the final release!
Frontier confirmed this [yesnod]

Oh okay [big grin]. It's a cheatcode to unlock the work-in-progress first person cam [cool]
The cheatcode cam is actually pretty decent. The "slow walk" speed is a little too slow, but it does feel incredibly life like and you gain a new appreciation for your park. Even my 60 foot family coaster seems huge in the first person mode which is very realistic since 60 feet is a considerable height. I'd like to be able to make a guest and play as that guest (so that would adjust camera height I suppose).

Pretty decent ?
We didn't try the same cheatcode I guess.

1) This is just a "camera settings" and not a "controllable avatar"
2) This is VERY bad !!!

We need a controllable avatar, just like any FPS game, not this ... thing ... coded in five minutes.

This is not an FPS game... Nor is it a simulator. It is a park builder/ management game.

The current camera "cheat" works fine for walking around like a guest. Unless you want to be able to stand in line for rides, or the stalls I don't see a point.

Not shooting down the idea, just don't see the real reason for full on avatars...

Actually it's classified as a theme park simulator.... Sooooo.... Technically.. It is a simulator?

The website literally says: "The future of coaster park simulation games."

Think out of the box then !

Again, not saying its a good or bad idea. I just don't see the point of it.

If you want to explore a park from the view of a guest, we have the camera mode that allows it.

What other reason is it needed? I am asking because I truly don't see a reason other then stated above.

I believe that this will be extremely good for PC. And if you don't care for it, well don't use it.

You all act like I am attacking the idea behind this... I am not.

First a foremost, I am trying to understand the reason you all want this implemented. Posting a song from Disney does not tell me why! Furthermore statements like above are truly not needed. I know full and well that I don't have to use a feature in a game. You don't have to let me know that.

I am simply trying to understand the reason behind having to have a avatar in PC. REASONS so I can then formulate my own opinion of it. To say it would be a good idea is not a reason, that's an opinion.

Other then walking around the park with the view of the guests (that we have now) what reason is there to have a avatar in the game? Its not like you will be able to look at your own avatar!
