Fully Controllable Avatar

@thejudge- there are 2 markets of gamers, some that want to build, and some that want to enjoy the world/parks that people create, by viewing the creations from the ground up rather than looking down. Don't you think it would be fun to run around in the game with a friend, in multiplayer, and getting to ride the rides together? Well guess what, this feature is already in the works.

Personally, i think it would be really cool as a "mini-game" to play as a security guard chasing after vandals, or vice verse playing as vandal running from security. I just think it would be funny and a great aspect of interaction. Or what if they add in actual game stalls, and we could play those?

Sure, not everything appeals to everyone, but like I said, there is a vast market of gamers who WOULD like this feature, and it would help increase the games fan base

Please don't think I don't want added features. The more appeal it has the more the games success will be. I am all for that!

But, Walking around the park in a guest view is possible already, with the cheat code.

Multiplayer? This would be the only reason you would need any type of Avatar. Just so you could also see your friends in the game with you. If that happens and support with VR, that would be an amazing experience. Although I would like to be able to skip long lines to ride coasters..

do you really think first person cam is going to remain as only accessible in cheats? Its a "work-in-progress" and the cheats in alpha are for features that are not complete yet. And yes there is more to come! VR support has not been confirmed, but Frontiers other game has it. About waiting in line to ride the rides, we can already do that, who would want to stand in line all day for a video game?

Oh no, I fully understand that it will be implemented in a direct way. [up]

I was just saying that we have that feature in the works, why would we need an avatar when the camera is all that's needed.

But again, for multiplayer it would be required to be able to see your friends in the park with you!

If this is implemented I pray for VR support... Would be the icing on the cake!!

I definitely want a first person mode that I can control, so that I don't have to wait for a guest to wander over, but I don't think a full avatar would be a great Idea for this game, except possible as a UI feature I just don't see how it could work.

From the link your provided, I am not sure why the cheat code view mode is not what you expected. You said nothing happened yet when I did it (as many other have also) it locked me down into a mode where I could walk (or run) around the park from the perspective of a guest.

All FPP games work this way. You are stuck in a camera mode that gives you the impression of a First person perspective. The only time an avatar is used is when it is in fact multiplayer. But even then the camera you see the world through is just stuck in the avatars head. Same position, just with an animated avatar attached to it.

I have made game demos in UE4 using this method of gameplay. When building a FPP type of game the only object there is the camera and arms. I am not sure what it was you were expecting?
The video shows how an FPS camera works in games. Yes it has an avatar but that's because it has a option to go from 3rd person perspective to first. (video is not great but its a quick 2 min video to explain what I am referring to)

I have already answered that : A "fully controllable avatar" and not a third "camera settings".
Reread what I said, you will understand. [yesnod][up]

PS : Ah, and thanks for the tutorial lol, but I know exactly how a game is made. It's still a part of my job [haha]

By fully controllable avatar your referring to VR type of simulation? Where you can use the VR joysticks to control the arms and whatnot?

I mean, it still is the same camera view, just with animated arms to give you the feeling that you are in the game. Or am I completely missing something here lol.

I'm sorry, I'm just trying to figure out what the main difference between the locked camera position we have now VS the locked camera position your asking for? Both accomplish the same goal, a first person perspective. But an avatar is/would only be needed if in fact they implement a multiplayer mode for groups of friends to visit parks together. That would be a pretty awesome feature that I would use once I get a VR headset. Just one more reason to spend even more money because of PC haha!

I mean :

  • 1) a first person camera, attached to a guest (it's already included in the game, with a correct body avareness for the VR btw, since you talk about it) but that you can control, with the movements (and associated constraints) of a guest. (height of human sight, and not flying camera, not being able to walk outside a path, settings of the speed to be closer than a real one, etc...)

  • 2) Everything packaged (from a marketing point of view) as a REAL feature allowing players to "Visiting Parks" other players instead of downloading them, simply "activate the first person camera" to make it a real added value to the product

The current cheat code came view does have restrictions. You can not pass through solid objects like walls and fencing. If there is not a fence on a path you can walk across it. No different then in the real world. The only reason we don't do things like that is because you would get in trouble/or hurt.

Same as any COD player. Combat is nothing like a video game. There is no real world consequences to your actions. being a military Veteran I can assure you, COD tactics would not work in the real world, I am sure you understand this though.

I agree about the avatar though for multiplayer and VR support. I am not sure how it could be streamed but I am sure Frontier could pull it off. Would be a nice experience for sure!

Kidding right ? Because it's not true at all [bored]

I'm using the "tegidcam" right now !!! and I can :
- Move like a ghost (without a light colliding with guests)
- Climb some mountains
- Climb on trees (and getting stuck in it)
- Pass through the queue barriers
- Pass through any ride
- Pass through entrance archs
- Run like I was "Flash"
- Pass through guests
- Pass through walls, fast-food stalls, guests.
- With no sound when I walk
- Without the possibility of change if I walk or when I run (by pressing tab)
- Without "body awareness" (we need AT LEAST the lower body and arms)
- Can not interact with something (like jump in a ride)

This is just a simple camera (glued to X m to the ground) and not a fully controllable avatar !

Like I said in my post, it's absolutly not a complaint (because being able to see a park from the guest perspective with this tool is just SO COOL (and at least, one interest in this camera is to confirm that the rendering is beautiful in the first person) but just disappointment. I would LOVE to see a REAL feature for this. I have already said that but I want this game to be great, not just good, and Frontier hold something with this first view. I think (pretty sure) that if they put this camera behind a cheatcode, it's to collect user opinions and feeling about it, so here's mine :

I'm not asking very complex things like the ability to jump, to use toilets, or to see my hands holding a park map (even if it's could be great, I admit), but just :
- A real "controllable avatar" (normal speed, walking and running change with tab, body awareness when I look down just like the guest cam, sound)
- With restrictions (passing through walls, climing trees and mountains, etc...) and interactions (with rides, maybe benches/chairs if possible)

PS : The possibility to go outside of the paths is to keep I believe.

Ah ... and Frontier : if it's not to collect our opinions, but just because you wanted to give us this possibility to "explore" park, but you don't have the time to do something better, well ... In that case, thanks. It's still something, and it's cool.

I agree about the avatar though for multiplayer and VR support. I am not sure how it could be streamed but I am sure Frontier could pull it off. Would be a nice experience for sure!
Indeed.
Being able to visit a park with friends, using our own full avatar would make the experience even more amazing.
But "multiplayer" ... It's another level.

I'm going to check again but when I used the Cheat code camera view I did not have freedom of movement through walls/stalls. I did find ways to climb up on top of theming but I could have done it in real life also (no major fence in the area)...

I am not sure why you are able to pass through everything like that.... It could just be bad memory on my part as I have only used it once LOL

Well I just went and checked and sure enough I can pass through everything except a few pieces of scenery... Like the white balconies .

It defiantly needs a minimum of a collision box for the camera to prevent us from passing through objects.. I do wonder though, are all of the assets in the game currently coded with collision boxes? The AI sticks to paths and can walk through anything placed on it. That would tell me that collision is not implemented into the 3d models except for the other guests.. they don't walk through one another..

And collision boxes (complex ones) are a major draw on GPU/CPU resources... its rendering the objects almost twice. That would be (IMO) the main reason they didn't implement them into the game currently...

yes i want to have a fully controllable peep. since i did buy the option to be a guest in the park i would love to be able to control him.

Actually it's classified as a theme park simulator.... Sooooo.... Technically.. It is a simulator?

The website literally says: "The future of coaster park simulation games."

Well said bro. Well said.

Anyone here play thrillville? That's exactly the kind of avatar I want in this game! A normal-looking guy that can totally blend in with the crowd, but can skip all of the lines like a BOSS! (literally)

Who ever said that we wanted a combat system or the ability to do consequential actions? I'm not looking for another COD/GTA shooter! I just want to put myself into the game for a more immersive experience.

Remember lazer tag in RCT3? It could be pretty neat if they add in first person guests controls + multiplayer and as an add-on hopefully they add in playable games (like games of chances/game stalls) I think a "lazer tag" would be really cool to be able to run around in peoples custom buildings, scenery, mazes and spooky houses! Or how about playing security guard vs vandals trying to prevent mayhem in your park (of course it wouldn't be permanent just for fun [haha])
