Anyone ever come into contact with famous Elite names or surnames?
I'm wondering if, back in 2015, the game was generating famous NPC names too. I've even seen some whacky ones, like names from other franchises.
Anyway, when I came to know the Jason Ryder/ Ryder family name, it instantly brought me back to a time when I got killed by my first NPC of the same name...or at least same surname.
Back then, the game seemed kind of scarier; you could apparently drop into one of the debris signals types (degraded/ low emissions?) And get ambushed by (presumably) silent-running pirates that would shout "Get em, boys!" Into your comms panel and suddenly appear as contacts...or at least that's how my first experience of one of those signal types had gone, but I think this particular NPC was just at a Nav beacon and bearing the lawless or wanted status. It may have even been in Eranin, my starting system.
