Funny/unusual ship names

Bought an Asp Scout and was wondering what to call it when Bring Me The Horizon came on the radio.

I probably just amuse myself, but I've given a couple of ships funny names:

Federal Corvette - Federal Courgette - I was too cheap to get a grean paint job for it though
DBX - Mr. Jumpy
Imperial Cutter - The Ore Cutter (guess what I use it for lol)

I was going to name a Cobra MkIV "Exclusive means Exclusive" and fly around in open, but I expect I'd get blown up a lot. An Asp Explorer named "It's A.S.P." would likely have had a similar short life span lol.

Makes me smirk to myself, but not really the height of wit lol.

Scoob.

My fleet:

Cobra III: Roche Limit
iEagle: Nuisance Value
Asp X: Are We There Yet?
Dolphin: Not In The Brochure
Python: Stormbringer
Python: Mournblade
Krait II: Fashionably Late
Cutter: Dark Side Of The Sun
Corvette: Scorpio's Ghost
Sidewinder: Ride Me Sideways
Anaconda: Only Slightly Bent
FDL: Little Rascal

I'm quite fond of odd or interesting ship names, and tend towards Iain M. Banks Culture Ship names, or something along those lines. My Krait II was, for a while, the Surface Tension

Now I'm thinking about naming one of mine Polly Parrot. For ofc the full sketch goes like this:

O7,
🙃

I don't think any generation won't get the link between what is probably the most memed, internationally shared popular comedy act on the planet

I tend to name my ships based on role rather than physique, which admittedly doesn't lead to particularly funny names :)

Courier Sidey = Postal
Fuel rat DBX = Petrolhead
Bounty hunting Krait Mk II = DETHCON-5
Fuel rat Clipper = Prince of Rats

Chieftain - Dragon Fuel cause it's what makes dragon fire
AspEX - Hi Wake cause its build for speed, distance and made of tissue
T10 Defender - Hard Choices, mine or yours?
Anaconda - Seirenes Call, I didn't want it, it was too easy, I resisted I did I did

A few random ones of mine, hope they fit!

Cutter - Schrodingers Divebar (you don't know if the bar is open, or whether the stuff we sell is legal, until you open the door. Was Schrodingers Speakeasy before an unfortunate lithobraking incident...)
Python - Parcel for Mr Gravitas
Eagle - 404 Gravitas Not Found
IEagle - ...Failed to Resort... (Maxim 6: If violence wasn’t your last resort, you failed to resort to enough of it.)
Viper MkIV - I Didn't Touch It
Clipper - fiscal unprobity (couldn't afford it at the time)
Courier - In my other jacket (couldn't afford that either...)
Adder - where eagles swear
Anaconda - Cromulent Wifflesnap
Krait MkII - Eccles for King

Quick survey among my colleagues lets me question that, sir. Anyway, I can throw in three more:

Bazmeson Memorial - a Cobra parked at Helgoland in remembrance of the Insightful One who led us all the way. It's always June on the net somewhere.
Bazmeson's Folly - another Python at Colonia, name shamelessly borrowed from Factabulous. Same reason as the one above.
Fisher King - a shieldless Sidewinder with long range wake scanners and DD5 thrusters. I used to collect DWEs with it, lazily sitting in front of Shinrarta in Open. Led to much confusion sometimes. This would be a Polly Parrot candidate, as I moved somewhere else.

Not exactly funny, but my ships were all named after volcanos.

Cutter: Tambora
Type-10: Krakatoa
Clipper: Vesuvius
Orca: Erta Ale
Type-7: Erebus
Python: Nyiragongo
Diamondback Explorer: Mayon
Type 6: Ambrym
Krait: Mauna Loa
Adder: Sakurajima
Cobra III: Masaya
Asp Explorer: Novarupta

I think you need at least a "Hekla" (which has a really long history as an exploration ship name anyway; my Asp X is called 'Hecla'), and for a bit of fun pronunciation, an Eyjafjallajökull :)

Indeed I'm missing iceland for volcanic representation (which is a serious flaw), but in my defense I almost went for "Bardarbunga" (Bárðarbunga) in the Type-10... If I had used Eyjafjallajökull it would probably crash the PC, assuming I would ever able to type that. :D
