Future development plans?

+2000

Frontier will hopefully spend a big chunk of 2015 finishing off the basic game content still missing on release date such as missing ships, missing squadron mechanics, languages localization, DDA missing mechanics in exploration and mining, improving the missions system and the influence and rep systems... and a large etc.

And all that is just about the base game... nevermind the expansions.

Well, the game will hopefully sell as many copies as possible. There is not enough "old timers" with a imagination to fill in the blanks between two stones and a stick. And if FD want to sell the game as a console game? OMG you haven't heard any whining yet I can insure you. As a big Fan of DayZ \ Arma I can tell you that in DayZ there is not much you can do either, however the surroundings are 100% immersed and I can use my limited imagination to fill in the blanks if needed.

FD made a interesting game that never got released, The Outside, why don't they use some of that knowledge to make the player feel he is a part of this universe and not just something in between. I saw the teasers and that is what I would like to have, please.

And just to add some salt in the wound

All I care about is making Groups/Wings top priority, and then continue to make Missions, Trading, Piracy, Bounty Hunting, Exploring, and Minning deeper and more engaging. Anytime I hear someone talk about planetary landings I just want to tell them "Can we let them finish the game they started before we ask for expansions."

I totally agree with this ... have some rep

This in a nutshell. They have great foundation which matches the earlier part of the Kickstarter pitch, but it needs to be fleshed out and more depth added for longer term interest.

As it turns out I am really enjoying the game even as it is and my hope is FD stay afloat and the game remains in their control and it does not become subscription based.

Other than that I can just see what happens with features when they are introduced.

I'll hazard a guess that most people replying are also really enjoying the game, but they know there is room for improvement and would like to know what's truly in store. Right up till probably gamma people were expecting things to get fleshed out more, but Frontier never really clearly addressed this earlier, indeed they could have done so especially as they had been aiming for a Christmas release since the start of the year (it is in one of the David Braben video's). Ah well, don't let these messages think anyone is hating on the game, its just the potential is massive :).

I think it would be nice to know what they're generally planning to add over the coming year, it doesn't have to be in great detail imho.

I think wings and planetary landings are the next phase. Each planet will be a game in it's self.

So I think that is what to expect. For now just get the baseline solid and expect these two features over the next few months. I would like a basic clear direction too. But I trust the Devs and sure they will get on top of things soon. It seems they have enough just dealing with the new release.

I also think the best thing we all can do now is try and support our game as best we can. We do need some more content and for whatever reason it is late. So make the best of what we have for now. Or wait it out and come back. I will be enjoying what we have for now. It's a dream sim for me.

Take care all

after you watch those videos, there is no wonder so many people are confused by what was advertised and what is in game.
That exploration video is exactly what I was looking for in this game. Not a bunch of white containers with different names on them. Holy placeholders batman! There is an incredible amount of work to be done to flesh out the basic game at this point. Still feels so much like Alpha.
